Dr. Anthony Fauci, the beleaguered public face of the United States government’s response to the coronavirus, has defended America’s funding of research into coronaviruses at a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

The United States reportedly gave $600,000 to a non-profit institution in Wuhan which had links to the city’s Institute of Virology, where researchers were investigating whether bat coronaviruses could be transmitted from animals to humans.

“[The proposal was] to be able to go and do a survey of what was going on among the bat population because everyone in the world was trying to figure out what the original source of the original SARS CoV-1 was,” Fauci said, noting that since SARS first emerged in China, it was vital that the research be conducted there.

“It was almost as if you didn’t pursue that research you would be negligent because you were trying to find out how you could prevent this from happening again,” Fauci added.

I’ve been on peer-review committees in the energy field. Peer reviewers NEVER asked “should this research have been undertaken in the first place? Is it ethical?” They look at the quality of the research and ask if the results are accurate and reproducible.

Peer-review is not the issue here at all. In fact, I’d wager that if you look at the people selected for peer review, they all get funded by Fauci’s organization or are under his chain of command. They know how the game is played — you don’t object too strenuously if you want your own gravy train to keep running. The whole system and peer review is corrupt.

The fact that he keeps hiding behind “peer review” says volumes, none of it good for him.

This is exactly how global warming academic publishing cabal started. Profs sat on review boards who were pals or had students that submitted papers being reviewed. Eventuality that level of cronyism moved up a level into the funding agencies. This was actually pointed out to a Congressional committee back in the 1990s.

He had one job to do with multiple hundreds of billion dollars in funding and he failed miserably. He has been proven wrong at every turn. He has not once admitted a mistake or offered up even the smallest regret. His God complex will not allow any self examination. Further he refuses to acknowledge that all of the scientists he so proudly appeals to for support would never intentionally contradict him for fear of losing their funding or their jobs.
