Republican Senator Rand Paul has officially referred Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation and prosecution. Paul delivered the referral, written in a letter, to Attorney General Merrick Garland Wednesday afternoon and is alleging Fauci lied to Congress about funding dangerous gain-of-function research.
"Without question the evidence we presented in Committee yesterday shows that the NIH was funding research in Wuhan. We showed the exact numerical series of numbers that goes with the grant number, so yes they were funding the Wuhan lab," Paul said. "The second question is whether or not the research was gain-of-function. The NIH actually defines gain-of-function, and I read that definition to him [Fauci] but he didn't listen, the definition is that any kind of animal virus that occurs in nature that affects animals only or infects animals only if you recombine it or mutate it or adapt in a lab with other viruses so it has characteristics that change it to an animal only virus to being a virus that can now infect humans, that you've gained in function...you've made it more dangerous. Without question this is what happened in the Wuhan lab."
"Dr. Fauci is not disinterested. If this virus came from the lab and it becomes clear he was funding dangerous research, moral culpability, responsibility attaches to him and he does not want that so he's shirking that nut in so doing he's not being honest with the American people and Congress," Paul continued. "Right now Fauci is getting away with this because nobody is questioning him."

The oh, so conservative federal health advisors for the recommended daily allowance (RDA)say that a level below 20 (and I don’t remember what exactly) is a sign of deficiency, a professional group dealing with blood disorders say that below 30 is the deficiency level, and people who are educating and advising for OPTIMUM health are suggesting getting into the 60 to 80 range. As was pointed out by one person who was fighting Covid symptoms, a very high dose or two seemed to do the trick and then reduced to a level the optimizers are suggesting (5000 IU) and staying at that level. That is what I take at 83, except if I am spending a lot of time out in the sun. As I pointed out in Comment #30, failure of government health agencies to advise adequate Vitamin D3 and other nutrients strikes me as criminally negligent. I order for the FDA to issue an emergency use authorization (EUA), there have to be no available treatments which explains the lies in the "news" media and the censoring in social media of the effectiveness of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.

Nothing will happen, but this is part of a process, and Senator Paul needed to do this as part of the process. The fact that DOJ will do nothing should open a few eyes of independent voters.

You nand others here who believe nothing will come of this as far as the Justice Dept may be right but that doesn’t mean the fraud Fauci escapes.
Since I have no reason to disbelieve Rand Paul when he cites the definition of “gain of function” and since we know WHO and Fauci were aware the Chinese engaged in the gain of function by way of emails on record, the damage has been done.
Fauci is at the end of his career and all he has to look forward to is his legacy. This will be a stain and a big one on it and a guy with an ego the size Fauci has will definitely feel the pain.
It is not just this gain of function thing it is all the other contradictions, flip flops and outright lies which have and continue to dog him no matter what he says to defend himself.
The media cannot protect Fauci although they will try.

Just slip a poison into their water supply, then call it a local pandemic, then send a few “doctors” there with the antidote to the poison.
Publicly “CURE” a few dozen people.
Then say they need to get more of the “medicine”.

The people get the “cure” immediately feel better tell their sick neighbors they need to get the “jab”.
