Officials from the White House called on their Ukrainian counterparts to abstain from the scrutiny when it comes to the upcoming deal with Germany that concerns Nord Stream 2. Politico wrote that with a reference to informed sources.
The dignitaries hinted that they refused to stop the Nord Stream 2 project, and now they're trying to contain the damage by making a large-scale deal with Germany. According to sources, public statements regarding this upcoming agreement may inflict damage on Kyiv-Washington relations.
The US official also urged Ukraine not to discuss potential plans of this deal with the U.S. Congress.

Earlier, we reported that the U.S. and Germany are about to make a deal on the Nord Stream 2, which can foresee sanctions and other measures against Russia if it tries to use energy as a weapon against Ukraine. According to the document, Berlin will take action if Moscow tries an aggressive approach against Ukraine when the pipeline is launched. Besides, Germany will insist on taking measures on the European level, including sanctions aiming to limit the Russian export of energy carriers.
"A senior U.S. official, who asked not to be identified discussing the terms of the deal, said the language was intentionally ambiguous because the administration didn’t want to give Russia a road map of its response to any malign behavior. The official didn’t rule out that such action could include limiting gas flows from Russia to Germany", wrote Bloomberg.
I get the feeling that the corruption is just way out in the open, and everyone is being told to not talk about it.
