Are Masks About to Become Permanent?

Much of the world’s media is spewing nothing but gloom and doom over the Chinese coronavirus, that the worst is yet to come. NBC newsreader Lester Holt recently interviewed CDC Director Rochelle Walensky. When Holt asked her, “Is this becoming a worst-case scenario?” she replied, “Unfortunately no I think things can still get worse.” Is that true?

Most Americans have had at least one COVID-19 vaccine, specifically 56 percent receiving at one dose with partial immunity and 48 percent fully vaccinated. Of the most vulnerable over age 65 population, 79 percent have been fully and 89 percent at least partially vaccinated.

The CDC “estimates about 35% of all Americans have been infected with COVID-19 over the last year.” Even with some overlap between those previously infected and those vaccinated, 80 to 90 percent of Americans have either natural or vaccination immunity to the Chinese coronavirus.

What ever happened to the basic concept of herd immunity? The media refuses to discuss it as suddenly this basic concept of immunology is now QAnon or white supremacist conspiracy theory. The Mayo Clinic explains,

Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, making the spread of disease from person to person unlikely. As a result, the whole community becomes protected -- not just those who are immune.

There are two main paths to herd immunity for COVID-19 -- infection and vaccines.

Note infection and vaccines. Why are we told that vaccination is the only path to herd immunity? Are we there yet? It depends on who you ask and when. As the New York Times notes,

It is all about control. Tell us to jump and a bunch of rabbits jump and do everything a communist type government tells them to do. Our nation is rapidly becoming a one party controlling government of socialists. We are digging our own graves and pulling the dirt in over ourselves at the same time. This nation is going to sink into a communist dictatorship if we don’t start standing up for what this nation was founded on!! It was founded on Judean-Christian principals by people who knew there was a GOD and by people who came to this nation for religious freedoms and freedoms from oppressions by a tyrant king. Now we are doing it all over again. Every freedom we give up is a freedom lost and never recovered. We are headed down a long dark tunnel and there is no light at the end of it if we ourselves do not shine that light of freedom from a government and their pals at Amazon, Twitter, Microsoft, etc.

They aren’t masks.

They’re muzzles.

CoupFlu has NEVER been about public health.

This fascination with the wearing of masks has become almost a fixation and a fetish, much like the wearing of a garlic necklace once was. Masks provide no protection against the transmission of the virus, and may in fact exacerbate the growth and infection once the virus has gained a foothold in the nasal passages, from there to be breathed down into the lungs where the virus does its real damage.

And now the “authorities” want our children to wear masks full-time. That would be training them up right and proper.

I've visited Japan several times...each visit, the most recent being about 5 years ago,was in winter.During those visits I was surprised to see many, many people wearing masks. Don't know if it was mandatory or not.

I don't have a problem with people choosing to wear a mask. I don't even have a problem being *required* to wear a mask in a hospital/health care facility...because of the possibility of harming people with weakened immune systems.

But apart from that mandatory masks is beyond ridiculous.

The math is not that hard.

(herd immunity threshold = 1-1/R0)

The Delta strain has a R0 of 4 to 6

This means that 83% must have immunity to it and prior exposure to the alpha, beta, strains have not proven to be effective at preventing Delta infection. So this 83% must be gathered by exposure to Delta itself or the newer pfizer or moderna Mrna vax with the Delta spike proteins as the original alpha vaccines are only at most 64% effective against Delta.

I personally know two child care workers who have had the alpha strain months ago and are currently recovering from Delta strain their second time having covid neither got the Mrna vaccines. They got the Delta strain from a child in their class who also infected both his parents.

Control! It's all about control! With people out here not wearing masks, and beginning to live again, the taloteriat will have none of that!

How severe was their infection from the Delta strain compared to the Alpha strain?

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

How did they know the child infected the parents rather than vice versa?

Children now spreading the virus would fit right into left’s narrative of continued panic.

Wearing a mask to prevent person to person transmission of a respiratory virus is like using chicken wire to keep out mosquitos.

If folks want to wear one, whatever.

But they’d be just as successful if they strung garlic around their necks or rang church bells.

BTW, IIRC, didn’t the CDC recommend PCR over viral cultures because culturing the virus was too dangerous to be done outside a biohazard lab?

Then what the heck good is a disposable face mask gonna do to prevent transmission?!

Sheesh.

No, its not. Electrostatic effects capture most small droplets and some viruses. That applies to most synthetic materials, not cotton. N-95 capture the majority of viruses. The issue is of course how the masks are worn. Most are handled improperly and are therefore useless.

I’ve lived in Japan for 35 years . In the crowded big cities SOME people we wear masks in winter when they have a cold or don’t wish to catch one . Not saying the masks work but they think they help . Not mandatory .

“Why Wearing Mask Makes Healthy People Sick”
by- Dr. Jim Meehan

Free download at link:
https://meehanmd.com/

“KEY POINTS:

» Decades of the highest-level scientific evidence
(meta-analyses of multiple randomized
controlled trials) overwhelmingly conclude that
medical masks are ineffective at preventing the
transmission of respiratory viruses, including
SARS-CoV-2.

» Those arguing for masks are relying on low level evidence (observational retrospective trials
and mechanistic theories), none of which are
powered to counter the evidence, arguments,
and risks of mask mandates.

» The majority of the population is at very low to
almost no risk of severe or lethal disease from
CoVID-19. Children are at an extraordinarily
low risk of dying from CoVID-19. Based on
CDC published data, 99.99815% of children that
contract CoVID-19 survive.”

N-95 capture the majority of viruses.

Gee, someone should tell 3M. They spend millions on R&D, design and OSHA certification but N95 masks are only certified for particles and dust. In fact, those of us who have worn them for decades call them dust masks. 3M could have had a bigger market for N95 masks had they known what you know.

Electrostatic effects? I live in a humid area and it's warm right now. There is no static. A mask may have some of that effect when you first pull it out of the package but it's only going to last 30 seconds or something.

Those paper/fiber masks have never worked for me due to having a thin face. The masks fit people with more body fat and a rounder face. When I wear one and then take it off, I can see stripes on my face where dust gets past it. No matter how well I push that aluminum strip down, I get stripes on either side of the nose that lead straight to the nostrils. It also comes in around the chin. This is what I have for a dust mask.

I've worked at shops that supplied paint masks but all they kept on hand was large. I get the same stripes. Some say, "I buy these six at a time. I can't buy six mediums just for you." so I had to go out and buy my own in a medium. Same with the above dust mask, medium. The all fiber ones are one size fits all.

The bigger point though is that there is no standard for covid masking. Surgeon's mask over a full beard? No problem. Homemade mask? No problem. Homemade matching corporate masks with logo? Super. Bandana? Fine. Putting any of the above on a two year old even though it's not going to fit at all? Total protection.

I worked for decades for a very famous hospital...a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. During my time there masks, gloves and gowns...along with other transmission control measures...were absolutely mandatory.

And they were routine...no complaints by anyone. So someone at Harvard, through research, must have established that these measures were of at least *some* benefit....in a hospital setting at least.

Are they of any use during this "pandemic"? I don't have the first clue.
