Trans woman weightlifter cleared to compete in Tokyo Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has cleared a transgender athlete to compete in the upcoming Tokyo games.

The IOC ruled Saturday that Laurel Hubbard, 43, who is a biological man, can compete for New Zealand in the women’s weightlifting super-heavyweight category and that her inclusion does not violate the current rules on the books.

She is on track to be the first transgender athlete to ever compete in the games.

“The rules for qualification have been established by the International Weightlifting Federation before the qualifications started,” IOC boss Thomas Bach said during a new conference Reuters reported. “These rules apply, and you cannot change rules during ongoing competitions.”

Bach stressed that the rules were currently under evaluation and would be reviewed at a later date.

Transgender athletes have been officially allowed to compete in the Olympic games as women since 2015.

So a man with or without a penis, needs to compete as a man, not as a woman.

My rule has always been simple. Athletes need to take a physical before competing.

If they have a penis and balls (or not), they compete with the men.

If they have a vagina, they compete with the women.

If they have neither, then they need to start their own team and compete with the other odd assortment of parts.

That's a lie for the most part. The women's middle distance events in the Olympics have been destroyed by an ever-increasing group of "higher than normal testosterone" women who magically are all from Africa. It began with Caster Semenya and when others saw that Semenya got in and started winning, they figured they'd better jump in while the jumping was good. I guess the only question is will they continue the high testosterone charade once every women's event from 100 meters to marathon is destroyed by transgenders.

She is from Aichi, they started work in Ichinomiya , near Nagoya years agoand as his career progressed, they moved to several locatins and then now to Tokyo.
