Capitol Police Arrest Democratic Congresswoman for Storming Federal Building

The chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus celebrated her arrest Thursday after leading an incursion of protesters into the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio said that breaking the law was an important way to illustrate her belief that voting reforms passed by state legislatures will disenfranchise black voters.

“I stand in solidarity with Black women and allies across the country in defense of our constitutional right to vote. We have come too far and fought too hard to see everything systematically dismantled and restricted by those who wish to silence us,” Beatty said in a statement on her website.

She said more protests will follow.

“Be assured that this is just the beginning. This is Our Power, Our Message,” the congresswoman in the statement.

What’s her problem? She has the right to vote.

I’m sure she will have a solitary cell for months on end just like the slow walking Jan 6 people.

Locked up in jail with no bail? Does she get a felony and 1-5 in prison?

If not, why?

Insurrection? According to Jan. 6 - yes. According to double standards - no. She certainly won’t be locked in solitary confinement pending trial.

She’s a Democrat..and a black female...so,she can do anything she wants.
Even if it doesn’t make much sense.

ALL of these "restrictive" laws are more liberal and give you more options than the voting laws that were in place for most of my life. Until about 15 years ago, there were two ways to vote:

1. Personally request an absentee ballot if you were a shut-in or would be travelling on election day. Your ballot needed to be postmarked by midnight on election day.

2. Go to the polls on election day, show your ID, sign the register book (which listed all registered voters in the precinct), fill out your ballot, and drop it in the ballot box.

There was no early voting, drop boxes, ballot harvesting, same-day registration, or mail-in ballots sent to everyone.

A long time ago (November 1969) in a galaxy far far away (real America) I stormed the Capitol to have my say about an issue of great importance.

How secure these thieves and whoremasters are now compared to then! Back then, the building was always open, it belonged to all of us.

I was just wondering the same thing.

No, unlike the mostly white people who went up the Capitol steps on January 6, she’ll get first class treatment.

So what that one was involved in, storming the building isn’t considered to be sedition??? Some animals are more equal than others apparently.

Beatty's criminal activity is in line with the district she represents.

Demonicrat Joyce Beatty is the Representative from Ohio's 3rd congressional district (which corresponds to the high crime areas shaded in dark blue).

“Be assured that this is just the beginning. This is Our Power, Our Message,” the congresswoman in the statement.

Premeditated. Trump didn't "storm" the capitol, but this genius did, so how long 'til she's banned on all the social media platforms.

After working as an election officer in 2020, I can tell you there is no voter suppression going on at all. Everyone had three weeks to vote, you didn’t vote in your precinct, but in city “voting centers” (so it could be convenient to work), and everyone voted. EVERYONE. And there were people in the parking lot paying people to go in with different stories about their ineligibility to vote, etc., and the worst thing that resulted is that they still filled about a ballot, but maybe it was made “provisional”.
The only “Voter Suppression” that is occurring is that we have big corporations running cheats on the counts/machines, etc. I hope this Congresswoman is prepared to address it.
