Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blamed the “absurdly cruel” U.S. embargo of Cuba on Thursday for the nation’s turmoil, singling out “Trump-era restrictions” on the socialist state as driving the unrest.
In her first formal statement responding to the protests that have rocked Havana’s Communist dictatorship, the Bronx Congresswoman says she backed the protesters. In a statement posted on Twitter, she then laid out where the blame should be laid:
She said the repressive Havana regime was not the only cause of the island nation’s troubles:
We also must name the U.S. contribution to Cuban suffering: our sixty-year-old embargo. Last month, once again, the U.N. voted overwhelmingly to call on the United States to lift its embargo on Cuba.
The embargo is absurdly cruel and, like too many other U.S. policies targeting Latin Americans, the cruelty is the point. I outright reject the Biden administration’s defense of the embargo. It is never acceptable for us to use cruelty as a point of leverage against every day people.

Canadians and Europeans love soak up the sun in Cuba and enrich the Communist regime in doing so.
Here in Florida we have many Cuban refugees and their offspring. The Cuban refugees had to flee the Communists with just a suitcase and any dollars they were lucky to have.
AOC has a very nice car. Many poor blacks in the American South lack a reliable car. AOC works in NYC and DC, where there is good public transportation is available. Comrades, can you figure out what should be done in this situation?
The embargo is not the issue here and even someone as intellectually unimpressive as she knows it, but a good communist never misses an opportunity to fool those even dumber than herself.

Cuban showed the effects of decades of Communism long before Trump took his oath of office.

The European and Canadian tourists that normally keep Cuba financially afloat face many Covid-related travel restrictions.
Many people would blame a lab in Communist China for the situation.
I love to raz my dentist that he got his doctorate from the same place as AOC.
BU actually has one of the best dental schools in the world.
