Republicans in the Texas State House voted 76-4 on Tuesday to arrest the runaway Democrats who fled to Washington D.C. to break the quorum and block the passage of Governor Greg Abbott's voting rights bills.
'Members, a sergeant-at-arms and any officer appointed by him are directed to send for all absentees whose attendance is not excused for the purpose of securing and maintaining their attendance under warrant of arrest if necessary,' Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan announced from the State House floor.
Texas House rules allow the sergeant-at-arms to arrest members who are not present at the Capitol for a vote – and the show of disapproval Tuesday could result in the lawmakers' arrest when they land back in the Lone Star State.
The Tuesday, however, vote doesn't hold much weight as long as the Democrats remain in Washington since by crossing state lines they have escaped jurisdiction of Texas law enforcement.
The group maintains that they aren't afraid of Governor Abbott's threats to arrest them for fleeing the state to break a quorum and avoid voting on Republicans ' election legislation.

The TX legislature meets in January in odd-numbered years, and outside of special sessions, meets for 140 days.
If they don’t clean up their electoral system this year, the rot will carry over into the 2022 elections.
So yeah, keep the special session open. When the rats return, handcuff them, escort them to the House and lock the doors.

I would bet money that NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS TO THEM!
They are criminals, and I would treat them as such. Use their own tactics against them. Even if they are out of state, I would use pre-dawn no knock raids of all their homes and offices and confiscate every electronic device just like they do.
To me the key word you said is JOB. If I ran out of my workplace I’d be replaced real quick with someone who CAN do the job.
Wonder if the arrest record would disqualify them from serving in office..

Actually, the House Democratic Caucus paid for it.
I believe Abbott said if they are arrested they will be “cabined”, his word, back to the House where they will be able to proceed with the voting.
Plain words, no jail, forced to do the job for which they were elected.

Looks like you are right. I saw part of an interview last night where Abbott indicated he would take no action unless the representatives came back to the state voluntarily except he did say that he would keep calling special sessions so they would not be able to resume their normal lives unless they came back.
