(CNN) — Days after Canada dropped its quarantine requirement for fully vaccinated Canadians entering the country, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau rejected the idea that non-essential unvaccinated visitors will soon be allowed in. "I can tell you right now that's not going to happen for quite a while," Trudeau said during a campaign-style stop in British Columbia on Thursday. Trudeau did not say when vaccinated travelers would be permitted. The Canada-US border remains closed to non-essential travel until at least July 21 and only Canadian citizens and residents are currently allowed to enter the country, unless they are exempted in order to carry out essential work.

There are a whole bunch of people in places like Niagara Falls, Ontario that make their living because of US and other international tourists coming to their town.
Quebec City is typically mobbed with US tourists in the summer. Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and the other eastern provinces make most of their tourist dollars in the summer off of US citizens.

Trudeau seems to delight in making Canadians suffer. Churches are burning, pastors being arrested and tourism, a big part of the economy in Quebec and the Rockies, is for all intents and purposes dead.

I have heard though once you get west of Quebec you are in solid “Red” country up to 20 miles from the Pacific Coast.
So they’ve finally confirmed covid is able to distinguish between essential and non essential unvaccinated travelers. Science answers yet another question!
I had hoped to visit New Brunswick before October. Oh well, I’ll find somewhere else to spend my money.
When the border opens, fishermen will be lined up for miles to get into to Canada. The fishing should be awesome without 2 summers of fishing pressure.
