CNN — A new data analysis identifies clusters of unvaccinated people, most of them in the southern United States, that are vulnerable to surges in Covid-19 cases and could become breeding grounds for even more deadly Covid-19 variants.
The analysis by researchers at Georgetown University identified 30 clusters of counties with low vaccination rates and significant population sizes. The five most significant of those clusters are sprawled across large swaths of the southeastern United States and a smaller portion in the Midwest.
The five clusters are largely in parts of eight states, starting in the east in Georgia and stretching west to Texas and north to southern Missouri. The clusters also include parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Tennessee, and are made up of mostly smaller counties but also cities such as Montgomery, Alabama; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Amarillo, Texas.
Most of these states are currently seeing increases in Covid-19 cases.
“Parts of the country are just as vulnerable if not more vulnerable than they were in December, 2020,” said Shweta Bansal, an associate professor of biology at Georgetown University.
Those vulnerable clusters put all of the United States – and to some extent, the world – at risk for going back to 2020, since high-transmission areas can become breeding grounds for Covid-19 variants that could go on to evade Covid-19 vaccines.
“These clusters of unvaccinated people are what is standing in the way of us putting this virus down permanently,” said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a CNN medical analyst and professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University.

Please read post #130 to learn the purpose and function of vaccines. It is NOT for preventing infections. No vaccine on earth can build a airtight plastic dome around you with internal oxygen supply to prevent infection.
Since the initial batch of people receiving vaccines were seniors, it entirely follows with common sense if people getting infected are in that batch.

I don’t think any FReeper is telling you that if you don’t get vaccinated you will die. Most FReepers believe it’s a personal choice. If you are unvaccinated and catch COVID-19, the odds are very long that your infection won’t be severe since most of the unvaccinated are younger and healthier than the older and comorbidity afflicted who were given initial priority for vaccination.
You need to understand that posting actual facts is not FUD except for the deluded. I wish you a long and healthy life.
The NIH, Fauci, and Moderna knew the issue was bad and did nothing to stop it from coming, yet, they had plenty of time to create a vaccine candidate by December 2019.
They let the virus into the country and lambasted Trump for wanting to stop it.
Why would that have been the case?
I still have a few marks left over on my face from the smallpox. Mortality rate was no where near 100% from smallpox even in 1950’s India. I have read articles saying it was 30%+. One could observe so many people walking around in India with those typical marks on face left behind by the smallpox.

So the elderly getting infected despite getting the jab isn’t what I’m drawing attention to.
It the fact that more than half of those DYING got the jab, which contradicts the lies of Faux-Xi acolytes and/or Big Pharma, that “oh noes delta is horrible we need many more jabs and the the the unjabbed will die like flies and serve them right for spreading it, wait we didn’t say that wink nudge” yada yada.
Even though today Pfizer tried to say people needed a third round of the jabs and the CDC contradicted them...
So unvaccinated folks with mild or no symptoms but Covid positive will exude “large loads of virus material”?
And unvaxed folks who have had the virus already? You don’t want them on cruise ships with you?

This is such BS. If they really wanted to try to do something useful, they would close the border and quit allowing diseased people to come into the USA.
And if their stinkin’ injections was so wonderful, why the heck aren’t they meeting them at the border and giving them the jab prior to allowing them in?
