China claims Japan ‘digging its own grave’ if it joins US in defense of Taiwan

The Chinese Communist Party is warning Japan that it will be “digging its own grave” if the country sides with the US to defend Taiwan in the event of an invasion — adding Japan is “powerless against the Chinese military.”

“Japan does not dare to confront China alone. If Japan involves itself in the Taiwan question militarily, it will be Japan digging its own grave,” said an op-ed published Wednesday in the Communist Party mouthpiece Global Times.

“Japan’s military capability is completely restrained by the US and does not have an independent combat capability. It is easy for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to paralyze the attack capability of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. Japan itself is powerless against the Chinese military,” said the article, written by Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert and TV commentator.

The op-ed said China would view Japan as a threat if it assisted US forces.

“If Japan cooperates with the US to carry out military actions against China, especially over the island of Taiwan or Diaoyu Islands, Beijing will view the move as engaging in a military conflict with China. In this sense, Japan will become the target of China’s military strike. This will endanger Japan’s survival,” Song wrote.

The piece was written in response to comments made by Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso at a fundraising dinner for a fellow lawmaker Monday evening.

“From 800 or so AD until 1750 China was probably the predominate world military power.”

Beginning with their 1588 defeat of the Spanish Armada, if not before, England would disagree with you.

China seems to have forgotten the Japanese of 1933 when they visited Nanking

I can pretty much guarantee you that they haven’t forgotten.

By May 1944, this was no longer true, according to this:

“What would be the disadvantage for Japan to openly declare itself a nuclear state?”

The denial of the obvious (Japan already has an effective nuclear arsenal) is mainly for domestic political purposes, because of the active, noisy anti-nuke groups.

I would rather have Taiwan than DC as a state

Well the Taiwanese girls are certainly cuter than those in DC, so I agree with you.

China will take Taiwan

The PRC will find Taiwan is much more advanced than Vietnam was when they tried in 1979. The PRC might cease to exist if they get too froggy.

the USA will do nothing.

Correct, the current CommiecRAT regime supports, (and vice versa,) the Communist regime in the PRC.

I hate to break it to people still holding out hope, but neither Japan’s nor our Deep State has any intention of defending Taiwan.

And the ChiComs know it.

All defense secretaries wary of China should meet at an appointed date in say, Taiwan. Ok make it ho Chi Minn city. The US Sec. of defense can attend and then ‘get sick’ when the meetings start.

Insiders in China should tell the CCP to quiet their sabers when it comes to Japan. If there is anyone in Asia who can counter China if they have to, it will be Japan. They have not been the bully in Asia since the end of WWII, and they know China is adopting the behavior of the bully in Asia today, and they are through making their apologies for past errors. Prick Japan and you will start WWIII.

This is stupid because Japan is sort of like Israel and has a proven history of ferociously fighting and winning. China does not.

You may have a valid point. Recently Chinese soldiers were fighting Indian soldiers on their contested common border. The Chinese soldiers were seen to be crying while losing against the fiercer Indian soldiers. The Indians were not afraid to fight and die, while the Chinese were timid.

Hi.

Let’s see...

There’s a billion screaming Indians (dot type) on China’s southweaster border. No love lost there. To the North, Monguls and Russians. No love lost there.

Then you have the Vietnamese to the south. No love lost there.

Then you have the question, what if Taiwan takes out the TGD?

Editorial...Wuhan is down stream on a low flood plain. Personally, I wouldn’t miss it.

Someone needs to type better, and learn how to spell the word, “western.”

As in John Wayne.

........in Korea, our soldiers were reporting that the “waves of Chinese” were drugged out of their minds. You can’t achieve a successful military force drugging your troops. This is the CCP Army’s legacy.
