ictory is near for the candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Staten Island's Republican primary for bureau president.
The third round of unofficial ranked-choice results from the June 22 contest released Tuesday evening, the first including absentee votes, showed Vito Fossella holding a narrow lead with 9,306 votes (50.8%).
That was enough for his closest rival, Steven Matteo, to concede the race after getting 9,016 votes (49.2%).

I wish him well, but I think he’s certifiably nuts.

I don’t care if Trump supported him. The man lead a double life and was living with and had a child with another woman while married.
Vito will win the general with little trouble. This is a bright spot for the people of Staten Island and New York City.
Vito’s presence on the stage will keep Nicole Malliotakis on the right side of issues as well.
Trump magic again. Yes this is Staten Island, but his opponent is very popular and Vito had to reintroduce himself to a generation of voters. This is solid good news.
Speaking of Staten Island, has anyone heard from DP022 lately? He seems to have disappeared.
