TALIBAN insurgents have captured a brand new cargo of thousands of US weapons and vehicles as Afghanistan spirals out of control.

Following the takeover of a former Afghan National Army base, the Taliban have come into the hands of thousands of unused weapons and vehicles intended for US and Afghan troops. From one base in Wardak province in the north of the country, Sky News showed how the insurgents have snatched an astonishing 900 brand new guns, 30 hummvies, 20 armoured pick-up trucks, thousands of rounds of ammunition and boxes upon boxes of brand new missiles and mortars.

The Americans knew that the war was lost before the last troops had left. It’s not like they were arming the ARVN to win. The Viet Cong were ignoring the cease fire even before the last troops had gone. All you are doing is engaging in semantics. We pulled out and left enough behind to turn the VC into one of the best equipped armies in the world. Deal with it. The best I can say is that it wasn’t your fault. Your leaders let you down.

Wait until the IEDs start taking out a lot of their people and suicide bombers start appearing from no where, it took a real toll on US Troops and it will do the same thing to China

Again, I'm going to have to correct you - When we left in '73 and the NVA (Once again, the VC didn't exist anymore) began their first major offensive they were stopped cold - the "Easter Offensive" - and we did we said we'd do and bombed them to oblivion. Nixon was still in place and the ARVN fought well.

Meanwhile, our wonderful, supportive public elected Democrats and watched witlessly as our president was hounded out of office by the Left.

Then Nixon was gone, the NVA headed south again and Congress cut off all funding.

That's when the war was lost.

I was there in '66-'67 and there again in '75, watching everything collapse.

By the way, the NVA didn't need any of the stuff they captured - they had already been amply supplied by the Soviets, the Warsaw Pact, and the Chinese.

The difference being that the Chinese are convinced of their superiority, they believe their own PR propaganda.
When Jihad Johnny starts dining on the Chinese buffet the average PLA laddie is going to be in a world of hurt.
China has never dealt with an enemy like the crazy Arab. Their tame Uighurs don’t count, they’ve never had a chance.

When the blown up bodies and brain damaged men start going home I wonder where the Party will stash them. Maybe in some out of the way and out of sight place. Maybe they won’t leave Afghanistan at all.
The Chinese are predictably cruel to their own people.

You can try to be an apologist for failure if that's what floats your boat but your criticism is akin to some of the grammar Nazis here who dismiss an entire argument over a missing apostrophe. Let's assume I do know the difference between the VC and the NVA but at this point in history I don't care. That should suffice.
