The Americans knew that the war was lost before the last troops had left. It’s not like they were arming the ARVN to win. The Viet Cong were ignoring the cease fire even before the last troops had gone. All you are doing is engaging in semantics. We pulled out and left enough behind to turn the VC into one of the best equipped armies in the world. Deal with it. The best I can say is that it wasn’t your fault. Your leaders let you down.
Meanwhile, our wonderful, supportive public elected Democrats and watched witlessly as our president was hounded out of office by the Left.
Then Nixon was gone, the NVA headed south again and Congress cut off all funding.
That's when the war was lost.
I was there in '66-'67 and there again in '75, watching everything collapse.
By the way, the NVA didn't need any of the stuff they captured - they had already been amply supplied by the Soviets, the Warsaw Pact, and the Chinese.
