J.D. Vance, an author and venture capitalist whose best-selling memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” focused on the social and economic underpinnings of former President Donald J. Trump’s appeal to the white working class, said on Thursday that he would seek the Republican nomination for the Senate in Ohio.
Mr. Vance, 36, enters the campaign as a well-known and well-financed first-time candidate facing an open field. The Republican incumbent, Senator Rob Portman, is retiring after two terms. The race is one of a few in next year’s midterm elections that could determine which party controls the upper chamber of Congress, which is now split 50-50.
At his campaign kickoff event at a steel parts factory in Middletown, the city north of Cincinnati where he grew up, Mr. Vance made his backstory as a son of the Rust Belt central to his identity as a candidate.

“If you look at every issue in this country,” Mr. Vance said, “every issue I believe traces back to this fact: On the one hand, the elites in the ruling class in this country are robbing us blind, and on the other, if you dare complain about it, you are a bad person.”

This is interesting. When Trump asked the crowd at his rally last week about Senate candidates no one got much attention, this is now a crowded race!
not gonna register or pay to read the article. Excerpt too short-try again.
“...if you dare complain about it, you are a bad person.”
He MUST use stronger language:
“...if you dare complain about it, you are a racist, a homophobe, a white supremacist, Hitler AND a misanthropic bigot all rolled into one! And you will be thrown under the nearest bus!”
My main political issue now is dismantling the Federal Reserve.
Federalism and limited government is simply NOT possible when you have an entity that can print unlimited money to fund massive government, pay for its leftist social-engineering schemes, and support the skimming of connected cronies and elites.
“a well-known and well-financed first-time candidate’
Double whammy-no need to send money + a newness everyone can understand. Hopefully there are no skeletons. That’s where inexperience rears its ugly head. He could stand to lose some weight.
More likely the FBI or the CIA will be dissolved.
He seems more qualified than the average suit in the current Senate…
“ JD went on to serve our nation in the Iraq War as a proud Marine, graduated from The Ohio State University, received his law degree from Yale Law School, and became a successful investor in Silicon Valley. He wrote a bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was turned into a movie on Netflix.
After the success of his book, JD became a well-known commentator. On conservative and liberal networks, JD fiercely defended working-class Americans and the conservative way of life that values grit, determination, and freedom. JD is now a fixture on Fox News Channel, Newsmax, and other outlets.”

He’s a Never Trumper. Deleted all his anti-Trump tweets. Voted for McMuffin.
Interesting, but I don’t really understand why this is focused on the Federal Reserve. There are many reasons to criticize it, but issuing bonds for government debt is done by the Treasury.
The USA had government bonds and debt long before the Federal Reserve existed.
I don’t trust anybody who comes from out of nowhere.
That’s good. Look at the examples. Perot. Sharon Angle. Others? My favorite dip sh-t was Bill Simon Jr.
Freepers need to research this klown...ok he’s a vet.....but still....he’s an oddball
A Crenshaw at most
Nobody should vote for him if he doesn’t get the 45 thumbs up. He needs to be clear about any support of President Trump. It’s possible to have a change of heart (Levin, Gutfeld, Beck, numerous others), but it needs to be very obvious.
I’ve been impressed by him; he seems solidly pro-Trump, at least now. Concerned that Mandel will want the nomination again - someone said he would have easily defeated the odious Dem leftist Sherrod Brown in 2018 but that he skated the last two weeks and lost his momentum. I think Mandel has run a few times before, won some state office but has failed to win federal office.

The USA once had a gold standard, which was an absolute check on politicians political and financial greed. Now we have a marxist-style central-planning entity which just issues fiat money to support government power grabs and leftist social engineering. But its not just about growing government - printed money has also absolutely changed society in 1000 ways as well.
Sure, but I’m not sure how abolishing the Federal Reserve fixes that? We have at times had had pure fiat money long before the FR existed.
The policies you are criticizing all are decisions made by the Treasury not the Federal Reserve.
John Roberts. Brett Kavanaugh. Amy Coney Barrett.
He’s a lawyer. What they do easiest is turn on a dime. They’re also best at saying things they don’t really believe. Do you think the Kenyan believes in global warming?
There are well known populist types out there not ready for prime time. Roy Moore and Arpaio come to mind. I’d even throw in Sarah Palin. She won’t go for the Murkowski seat-rest my case.
