China building 100 missile launchpads across desert in 'incredible' expansion of nuclear capabilities

China is building 100 new missile silos in the northwestern desert, according to satellite imagery, raising fears of an 'incredible' expansion of its nuclear capabilities.

The satellites picked up construction work on a site near Yumen, including underground bunkers, cable trenches, roads and a small military base, according to researchers from James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.

The silos seem to mirror existing launch facilities for China's arsenal of nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles.

The acquisition of more than 100 new silos would represent a shift for China, which was only thought before now to possess a relatively modest total stockpile of 250 to 350 nuclear weapons - far fewer than the US and Russia.

Analysts warned the expansion signified an “alarming development” but also urged caution against “worst-case thinking”, noting tension between major nuclear powers over disarmament.

Once each side has more than a couple hundred deployable nukes, the rest is just sabre rattling and money burning, IMO. And submarines are a far more effective deterrent, since it’s near impossible to guarantee taking them out in a preemptive strike.

Maybe that’s their strategy so everone can see, to frighten folks to stand down. But we could turn that desert into a parking lot, if we had a pair.

China is no nuclear threat to the USA. Creepy/sleepy Joe has already informed America's Second Amendment advocates he's going to nuke us anyway. And we're already so numerous throughout America, that means the annihilation of the entire country.

There'll be nothing left for the (insert derogatory term for chinese here but that is no longer acceptable on FR) to nuke.

Don’t worry about it. Our military has a much more serious enemy that they dare not take their eyes off of.

Why would China nuke us, they already bought control and will get an intact vassal state if present trends continue.

There was a good reason for the Soviets spending so much money and political capital fighting anti-ICBM programs like Star Wars. It exposed their weakness which was they didn’t have as much as we thought.
The Weakness of China is they don’t like to test things because they might fail.

But they are a peaceful nation and our friends.

My Dad was to be a shelter manager in the event of the big one so we, as a family, went to shelter drills. We would stay up to a week in the shelter with a group of people. One of the shelters was in the bowels of a huge masonic temple in the center of our town another was deep within the concrete walls of a hydropower plant. It was odd to be sequestered there while others went about their daily lives outside.

At about 8 years old I asked in one of the training sessions what it would be like outside in a nuclear event when we emerged, what would happen to the people outside and how we would protect ourselves from them? Things became uncomfortable. I never did get an answer but I knew I wouldn’t.

I think those days were a lot more frightening than covid but we survived anyway.

I hope our satellites take a good look at the African continent where CHina is also extremely active.

The “Covid” has done more damage to America than any war in its history. I think China’s paranoia and nuke sabre rattling is looking more at India and Russia. America is China’s b*tch.

Or else?

Or else we send another Covid.
China needs no nukes — it can always unleash a disease. No one will ask if it was done intentionally or where it came from.
