Conservatives claim that schools are indoctrinating students in “critical race theory.” Liberals argue that conservatives don’t even know what critical race theory is — and that if they did, they’d realize teachers aren’t actually exposing kids to it.
But a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll suggests that the roiling culture war over so-called CRT isn’t about whether today’s schoolchildren are suddenly probing the complexities of an academic approach to race that originated among legal scholars in the mid-1970s.
Rather, the clash over CRT — aside from whatever the term now connotes in the public imagination — appears to be a supercharged spinoff of a deeper dispute between conservatives and pretty much every other group in the United States.

What is the “real reason”?
You did not post that little tidbit of click bait.
So conservatives judge people as individuals, and the rest of the country judges people as groups.
Got it.
Damn conservatives are getting uppity. The government needs to put us back in our place.
Why would anyone read anything from Yahoo news? And please don't tell us we need to know they the enemy thinks. What they're doing hasn't been missed by anyone here x the last 30 years.
individualists v collectivists
The Marxist gaslighting about CRT continues. But I can’t remember the last time I saw the left this defensive about anything—it is pretty obvious that our side is winning the argument. Chris Rufo, Matt Taibbi, and the others who have exposed CRT deserve medals.
If all white people are racist then the only cure will be to kill all the white people.
That is where this is going...
White People is a proxy for Western Civilization, it’s not about skin color. A black person who is a conservative is “White” in their eyes.
“This article is BS and a misguided sophistry..”
If you actually read the article it states that the fundamental divide is whether somebody believes there is “systemic racism”.
When people are waking up to the evil of the Left the Left wants them to go back to sleep.
and this truly is deeply Marxist. Another word for “systemic” is “cultural” and you can’t have a cultural revolution, without, well, having a cultural revolution.
Basically they are saying individuals don’t matter, and even if they found zero individuals who were racist, and zero individuals actually harmed by actual racism, there would still be “systemic racism” to deal with.
This is a death sentence to the west.
We are ushering in Pol Pot.
It’s an inherent divide between those who believe in systemic racism and those who do not.
Conservatives are the only group that does not.
One of the tenets of CRT is not only that the American system is “systemically racist” in effect but that racism was and is the sole animating purpose of the racism therein. Progressives are aware that many of their own schemes end up racist in effect but they want to argue that their intent was pure. So the argument is not racism but intent—with predictable judgment of guilt and innocence very clear.
The issue is never the issue. The issue is the Revolution.
In the month of June alone, The Fighting Republicans have given us Juneteenth as a national holiday and have agreed to tear down confederate statues in the Rotunda.
Why would I take their resistance to CRT seriously?
They fold because they know the MSM will find something to destroy their gravy train .
They could care less about what we think.
Its all about the Benjamins....
“Always the dollars, always the f___ing dollars!”
Critical Race Theory: “the theory that racism is not merely the product of prejudice, but that racism is embedded in American society and its legal systems.”
If you believe that, then the only solution is the elimination of the current system, in favor of an “equitable” new system that mandates racial preferences.
To an extent, although it think there is a lot more content to the concept of "systemic racism" than is contained in the definition used in the poll and in the Florida statute: "racism is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems and policies." There is certainly a lot more to Critical Race Theory, which created the very concept of "systemic racism," than the mere study of this mildly-defined version of "systemic racism."
I think if either concept was presented to the public in its full, post-Marxist glory, it would meet with much broader opposition than reflected in this poll.
The article writer is also being deliberately narrow in his or her wording...when it denies that school children are being taught critical race theory. (No, I doubt they would try to teach the arcane, high octane, word salad explanations to 2nd graders.) The writer in a weaselly, gaslighting way, doesn’t talk about the objections being raised by parents about the lesson plans being drawn up reflecting of CRT’s assertions and designed as though CRT was settled fact; lesson plans in fact designed to dismantle the systemic effects of claimed systemic racism by the mis-teaching of up and coming students.
Exactly.
This doctrine of demons is nothing more than warmed over naziism with white people replacing the Jews.
