BLM/AntiFa are attempting to overthrow the USA. So yes military is the correct solution, General!

I mean, the national guard was mobilized. But yes, posse comitatus does prevent them from doing law enforcement (which is a big part of why the Coast Guard is specifically NOT in the DoD). But then again, he can't arrest people but he could coordinate the civilian response, it's been done in many cases including Hurricane Katrina (that "don't be stuck on stupid" general).

I wonder what law prevented the FBI, DOJ, State and Local police at every level from enforcing the law?

Obama cleaned out the top brass. <<<<

Correct!..and MANY of the truly good ones retired out of a sense of honor rather then go along with something they didn't believe in....

No. Example.

Eisenhower took advantage of a different set of laws called the Enforcement Acts which were passed in 1870-71 and which protected African-Americans' right to hold office, serve on juries, vote, and receive equal protection under the law. The Enforcement Acts specifically allowed the government to use troops to enforce the law if state governments did not act to protect those rights.

While the article isn't that detailed, I don't believe the protests that Trump was telling Milley to handle had anything to do with juries, voting, or equal protection. So under the Posse Comitatus Act Milley couldn't send the troops in. that protected African-Americans’ right to vote, to hold office, to serve on juries, and receive equal protection of laws.

Milley served at the pleasure of the CIC. Trump could have and should have fired him, but he didn't. Trump surrounded himself with enemies, malcontents and traitors, but he was too stupid to realize it.

I voted for him twice, but he does not deserve another term if there is anyone else running for the GOP nomination who has any real savvy and hard-nosed commitment to conservatism.

Something is happening here relative to Gen. Milley. First he gets hit with the CRT ‘jab’ which he counters (sort of). But he takes a position. Then he gets flattened with this Axios article getting into shouting matches with his (then) Commander-in-Chief.

I don’t know when Gen. Milley’s term is up but he probably should be lining up his retirement job now.

2016 General Milley who now promotes Critical Race Theory in the US Army, traveled to Beijing and congratulated General Li Zuocheng on being appointed by Xi Jinping as head of the people's Liberation Army.

so...it was ok because... politics?

First of all, everything in DC happens because of "politics."

Secondly, I was OK with Portland burning itself down - because of Federalism - The mayor of Portland could have taken a firm response. He did not. If the mayor of Portland even stokes riots, then its Portland's problem. And if he's breaking the law, then the next level up is the Governor of Washington. He has the State national guard at his disposal. Let them act first. The President is not a dictator, and certainly that's how the Left was hoping to paint Trump if he

States used to have laws eminent domain laws requiring local governments to compensate property owners for damage caused by riots, and in particular, government inaction to stop them. Those laws were finally eliminated by Democrats in the 1960s.

We need the truth from President Trump even if it makes him look weak. He’s pulling his punches with an eye toward running again and that is damaging the MAGA movement. If the JCS was insubordinate to civilian leadership we need to know it. Same goes for DOJ. This is a constitutional crisis and needs to be dealt with before we can “Move on.”

So when Milley says he wants to understand white rage, he is talking about himself.

Disaster recovery isn't enforcing the law.

I wonder what law prevented the FBI, DOJ, State and Local police at every level from enforcing the law?

I think local authorities kept local police from enforcing the law. I don't know why the DOJ and FBI weren't more involved; didn't the rioters trash federal property?

The story is a bunch of useless gossip.

Not really. This reaffirms Milley’s public statements. His pathetic “apology” in particular.

Less divided?? Without minimizing today’s obvious divisions the War and assassinations and the racial violence and threat of violence made the 60s a very divided and disturbing time. So much so that a President who had won 60% of the vote in 1964 found himself literally hounded from office.

The general has a wife and a daughter. My gut tells me they were pink-hat-wearing, anti-Trump joiners. Pressure builds
