Only, there are zero scientific studies standing up to any scrutiny that show “asymptomatic” folks were large scale spreaders of the virus. The most reproduced scientific studies showed that asymptomatic folks rarely spread the virus.

Why? 1. Viral load: An asymptomatic person is usually defending well against the infection and (a) may have been given a low viral dose, and (b) by their defenses are not creating a high viral load, and (c) viral load is a factor in how the virus is spread. 2. Time of exposure plus viral load: The two together - duration of exposure and viral load are part of viral contamination and if the first is weak, the length of the second is not likely to matter. 3: Close contact: Without close contact over some period of time, 2. is not likely to matter. 4. It takes viral load, duration of time, and close contact to achieve most new infections of the virus, and outside of intimate and constant family (home) contact (which accounts for a large % of new cases all the time) most asymptomatic folks are not major spreaders of new infections.

I am reminded of an old science fiction short story I read about fifty five years ago.

A scientist discovers a chemical that kills any animal that has a yellow skin or tinge to it. In showing it to a group of scientists he urges the Chinese to stay back from it, “just in case”.

At the end of the story, a Chinese scientist is ordering various concoctions of the chemical, and “a thousand, no, ten thousand” WHITE mice for experiments.

Heinlein’s work on Campbell’s “All” was considerably more than just a re-slanting; Campbell’s story was felt to be unpublishable as it stood, written in a pseudo-archaic dialect (sometimes inconsistently), and provided no scientific explanations for miraculous powers of the American super-weapons, which the PanAsians have no explanation for other than to conclude that weapons’ powers must be divine.
