CNN contributor Van Jones reacted with emotion Friday on “Newsroom” to the 22-and-a-half year sentence of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.
Discussing how with good behavior, Chauvin is likely to serve closer to 15 years, Senior legal analyst Elie Honig said, “Justice is imperfect. This is a serious sentence. Derek Chauvin will be in prison for 15 years. He’s 45 now until he’s 60. That said, I think this is light. I think the judge should’ve sentenced him more. Minnesota guidelines say you can double the 15 years if there is one aggravator. This judge found four aggravators and didn’t really come super close to doubling it.”
Jones said, “Very disappointing, very disappointing 15 years, I know people doing 15 years for victimless crimes of drug possession. Very disappointing the level of any one of those aggravators. What this man did, it should’ve been the maximum of the maximum. This is disappointing. I don’t think it’s going to cause outrage. But it’s a punch in the gut. This guy’s life is worth more than 15 years. It was. What that officer did is worth more than 15 years. Law enforcement across the country should look at something like this and say, look, you can’t do this type of stuff. You’re never going to come back home. It’s disappointing.”
When Honig pointed out there were two federal indictments still pending against Chauvin, Jones said, “The feds can come in and do more, and they should do more because this is not justice.”

It was proven I. Court that he died of drug overdose. The lying prosecution added on the false tag ‘overdose with extenuating circumstances’ or some such nonsense, to make it appear that the actions while floyd was struggling with the police contributed to his death. They did not. F.oyd WAS already dying when police rolled up on him. He would be just as dead today if thr cops did nothing and allowed hi. To sit in his own car.
You have to read the defense of Chauvin. It was brilliant. They proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did not kill Chauvin, and that they did everything they could with a violent man on drugs, to try to save his life by getting the ambulance there as quick as possible. And they proved that cops who don’t go by the book, even with perps tht have passed out, put not just themselves I. Danger, but the people nearby as well. There was a reason floyd was restrained until the ambulance, got there, but the white hating left didn’t want ot hear any of it
Yep.
This was a political prosecution and a political sentence. Gotta appease the Black ya know, otherwise they will riot and destroy cities (but then they do that anyway on any excuse).
I’m sure Van Jones and his ilk do not support death penalty for black defendants, only for white cops.
Van wants Chauvin lynched!
That’s justice in BLM-world!

That’s justice in BLM-world!
Let us be clear, Chauvin was not on trial, white America was; and the race hustlers want their pound of flesh. Chauvin is just the downpayment.
It was part of the plan to blame all Whiteys for all the failures the world so as to justify the forthcoming reparations.
Justice would be if Hillary Clinton was jailed, tried and convicted of keeping top secret government files on an unsecured home server, which she clearly did. She should be the one spending 22 years in the hoosegow. Until that happens, we have no justice.
There are so many cases that actually do merit exceeding established guidelines for sentencing:
((I am not contesting the actual sentencing, just giving a tiny handful of examples))
The young boy riding on his bicycle in front of his own home shot in the head by a neighbor.
Young boy taken from his bedroom and probably mutilated (no details I’ve seen) and murdered by a home invasion intruder.
Amanda Blackburn (pastor’s wife in 2015 home invasion) who was deliberately shot “so I could watch the woman bleed” before killing her. Again details not in news but probably raped as she was unclothed below the waist.
Jogger Karina Vetrano who was brutally beaten, raped and then strangled in Queens park. August, 2016.
Torture and murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom. 2007.
Sharpton and Ben Crump will need to call up the next batter tonight.
No sentence, nor any amount of reparations, would satisfy this guy.
It’s a whitelash Van, you jerk!
Yes, and now comes the appeal process, where he will have a better chance as the media and the commies will turn to other things I wish Chauvin good luck.
Best one I have seen here & was someone asking the Floyd Tribe if you could give back the 27 million and have your boy back would you give up the 27 mil ?
Me thinks I know the answer !
Van Jones: victimless crimes of drug possession
Hey Van, I know you like to throw around the idea that those who use drugs aren’t victimizing others, but you are wrong. Dead wrong sometimes.
By the time someone gets 15 years for drug possession, they have victimized lots of folks. Some victims are lucky to be alive after what the perps did to them.
If Van feels bad now, wait for the results of the appeal verdict!
I expect LARGE fires in “Blue cities”!
I’m tired of these black leftists who know the real issue is the breakdown of cultural and moral values in their communities, but continue to blame “whitey” because that’s easier than taking responsibility for their actions. When every other non-white group in America has surpassed them economically blacks still play the race card as the excuse for their own shortcomings!
Van Jones is full of bullstalin.
He never speaks out about the travesty and coverup in the Tony Timpa case.

They should have just hit him with the stun gun. It was a higher response but was an acceptable response given the situation. He would have died and that would be the end of it.
