Senate Republicans are already walking away from the infrastructure deal Friday over its expense, as President Joe Biden ties the measure to a separate reconciliation tactic full of far-left items.
“GOP senators are also concerned that they may get tied to the larger reconciliation package if they give Democratic moderates political cover by joining with them to pass the bipartisan infrastructure proposal,” the Hill reported.

My only guess as to how to square this circle is that Biden knows that the second, reconciliation, package cannot possibly be written and pass, and that he knows in the end that the bipartisan bill is not only adequate, it’s actually preferable.
We don’t need no stinkin infrastructure bill.

The environs of DC were ringed with high priced construction equipment sitting idle on the side of the roads. I presume the owners were getting paid the usual hourly rate for making their equipment available. The only implement actually needed was manure fork on the floor of the House.

Seems stupid to do infrastructure with a record number of job openings coupled with supply chain issues. Get rid of all the covid rent assistance, unemployment bumpers, and such. At same time tear down barriers to supply (regs/taxes), even suspend payroll tax for a year. Get the machine humming, then do infrastructure.
