Military officials said Monday that vessels participating in a Russian naval exercise in international waters off Hawaii are beginning to move away from the islands.
Capt. Mike Kafka, a U.S. Indo-Pacific Command spokesman, said the closest Russian ships were confirmed to have come within 20 to 30 nautical miles off Hawaii.
“We closely tracked all vessels,” he said.
“The Russian vessels are transiting west and are out of the Hawaii Operation Area. As part of our normal daily operations, we continue to track all vessels in the Indo-Pacific area of operations through maritime patrol aircraft, surface ship, and joint capabilities.”
During the Russian naval exercise, military officials scrambled F-22 Raptors at least twice from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. A US carrier strike group was also moved closer to Hawaii.

It’s not necessary.
They still remember the rules and adhere to them. They need only know the US had adequate forces in theater.
The Russians are nothing like the Chinese.
The media jerks the citizens from one imagined disaster to the next daily, it’s ridiculous.
Climate change, China virus, inflation, The Fed, hurricane season, tornado season, drought, it’s a wonder anyone is still alive.

And we are not at war with Russia. Their ships have every right to go anywhere in international waters
If Biden was smart, he’d make a public statement to both the Russian and Chinese navies, “Welcome! Feel free to make port call at US ports so your sailors can have shore liberty. Our restaurants, bars and beaches welcome you!”
Seeing how close they can push the envelope.

What’s interesting is that the Russian exercise began during Biden’s chat with Putin. Probably just a coincidence.
