Legislation that passed last week in the Michigan House would allow patients with HIV to donate organs to HIV-positive patients.
The law passed unanimously. The bill now heads to the state Senate for further approval. It would bring the state in line with the federal Organ Policy Equity Act, or HOPE Act, of 2013. The HOPE Act lifted the ban on using organs of those with HIV in transplants.
Michigan already allows organs of those with HIV to be recovered and taken outside of the state. The new law will allow the organs to be given to someone in need within the state, according to WLNS.
“Allowing these transplants will also increase the total pool of available organs for all transplant recipients, regardless of their HIV status,” bill sponsor Rep. Felicia Brabec said, reported the Associated Press. “That means that this legislation would be saving the lives of both HIV positive and HIV negative patients right here in Michigan.”
Michigan has about 2,500 people on organ transplant waiting lists, Dorrie Dils, CEO of Gift of Life Michigan, said, according to the outlet. A small portion of those individuals have HIV.
“It’s very appropriate that we’re doing this in this particular month. We want all people to be able to be donors who wish to be and this would provide the HIV-positive community that opportunity to do so,” Dils said, referring to Pride Month.
I'm actually in favor of this, as long as they label the organ container with extra-large, red skull & crossbones. It will save the healthy organs for normal people. Not that the homos won't be upset about that.
The problem arises in that there are very different strains of HIV, some more potent than others. And more and more drug-resistant varieties are bound to end up in organ recipients. Oh, well.
I don’t get why it’s all about the donors’ feelings, rather than the health of the recipients.
Question Are these people crazy?Allowing people with HIV to donate organs and Blood is outrageous.
So who’s responsible if a patient gets a blood transfusion or organ transplant and then gets seriously ill because of it?
Who’s going to pay the additional health care cost for that individual Patient who will be on HIV drugs for the remaining years of his/her life.
The Legislature in Michigan should reconsider this right away and stop it from getting passed.
2021: Organ transplants that will with 100% certainty give you a fatal virus are absolutely fine because it makes gays feel better if you die of AIDS too so long as they feel special about not being stigmatized.
I have no problem as long as it’s kept homo to homo, but it’s almost inevitable that HIV will be passed to some without HIV.

Because these are sick, narcissistic individuals. They want attention even if it kills others.
Organs of HIV-infected are being given to people with HIV.
I'd go even further. ONLY HIV-infected organs can now go to HIV-infected homos, not healthy organs.
Homos are famous for tearing up their organs through abuse and prolonged drug use and misuse. They shouldn't ever get first consideration.

Being donated is not the same as being used.
Right. But they are not doing to so homos get homo organs. They don't care about that. The purpose of this is to force heteros to receive transplants from homos.

So a victim can die slowly and at the end say “well, at least the Dems didn’t insult the gay or LGBTQ+ community.”
