Federal judge blocks Biden moratorium on new oil, gas leases

A Louisiana federal judge issued an order lifting President Biden’s moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal land Tuesday, ruling that the White House did not give any “rational explanation” for implementing the pause.

US District Judge Terry Doughty sided with 13 states in granting a preliminary injunction that applies nationwide. The states challenging the moratorium were Louisiana, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and West Virginia.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry hailed Doughty’s ruling as “a victory not only for the rule of law, but also for the thousands of workers who produce affordable energy for Americans.”

Biden implemented the moratorium on Jan. 27 as part of a series of executive orders signed during his first days in office, which included the cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline.

In his ruling, Judge Doughty found that only Congress has the power to pause offshore oil and gas leases and ordered that plans be resumed for delayed lease sales for the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. The judge also agreed with the states’ argument that a pause on oil and gas leases would do “irreparable injury ” by depriving them of revenue and causing massive job losses.

The White House had no immediate reaction to the ruling.

Do you realize there can be more than one article on a subject and it might be good? This has more info. The other is from the Associated Progresses. Should we only stick to the AP as a source? Get off the keywords, you big dope!

You can’t fire a federal judge except by impeachment in Congress for misconduct. Not happening. Judiciary is independent. But this is just a preliminary injunction until the underlying controversy can be adjudicated. It’s not the final word, but it’s encouraging.

Ok. Fine.

You can’t fire a federal judge. You also can’t assassinate a member of the Supreme Court. Or, maybe you can. I don’t know.

And all of Jack Ryan’s divorce paperwork was supposed to be sealed forever when both parties signed documents that they didn’t want it public. It went public anyway and the world got Barack Obama.

These people control everything. A few things may or will happen.

CornPop will direct his energy Secretary, or whoever controls the administration of the leases, to ignore the judge or just slow walk everything.

They will appeal and win.

And at some point the judge will either be gone or have the conversation that he can’t cross them anymore.

The previous administration showed that they do not care about the law or anything else.

When our energy resources use are prohibited from being used by political edict, that curiously benefits Russian oil supply
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3963509/posts
Pipe line shut downs affecting our resources and supply. which result in thousands losing jobs and reliance on costly imports from foreign sources. Denying our energy resources use which if fully developed would turn out to be a major source of income when exported also gives Russia control over Germany .
Disasterous results should be expected when such edicts are issued . Those who order and support such decisions should be impeached because of the serious damage being done to the economy.

Alaska and states like Californica and every state which has so called fossil energy reserves both coal and oil and this includes llinois which has both. Cal and Alaska, TX, and possibly Penn has enough stuff there they not only get the stuff from the ground but process it into fuel so that their gas would only cost $1.50 or even less a gallon

If anyone needed to be removed from the judiciary it’s that “Mother of all Scumbuckets” Emmet Sullivan. Even Trump couldn’t get rid of him but of course, the Rats play a different game than the GOP. The Rats actually play to win while the GOP help them. /spit.

Most demonRATs, at high levels, are happy about this ruling.

They can claim that they are for "green" but the bad pubbies are against it, but the gas prices would kill them during the mid-terms.

Now Keystone. There should be no way something like that could be arbitrarily cancelled after billions committed.

Now Keystone. There should be no way something like that could be arbitrarily cancelled after billions committed.

Since all of Keystone passes through Republican-held states, what’s most disturbing is why those governors don’t stand up and cancel Biden’s cancellation. It’s their economies and in most cases, their workers.

But of course, some GOP members have balls…

…and some don’t.

Exactly. They’ll figure something out. And, at the end of the day they’ll just do their judge shopping like they do or just ignore the judge altogether like Soetero did.
