Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.) raised $1 million for her nascent Senate bid in the day after she announced that she plans to challenge Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in 2022, according to a person familiar with the campaign’s fundraising.
The $1 million figure is staggering for a candidate, especially in a year without any regularly scheduled federal elections. It’s an early sign of momentum for Demings, a rising Democratic star who is seen as the favorite in the budding primary to take on Rubio next year.
But with 10 media markets and a population that exceeds that of New York state, Florida is known for expensive campaigns, putting pressure on Demings to quickly amass a warchest that can compete with that of Rubio, whose Senate campaign reported having nearly $4 million on hand at the end of March.

I just moved to Florida to get away from the freakazoids running the communist states. liberals are like locust, they destroy one field and move on to the next. Leaving total devastation behind them.

The million probably came from Media Execs trying to make the race look competitive so they can make 100’s of millions of dollars
Now I see that the money is that stolen from American taxpayers and laundered via gift contracts, then funneled to the DNC.
If you want to gift the Dems another Senate seat, just try Primarying Rubio and see what happens.
We are a red state but there are still a lot of idiots convinced that Biden is amazing and DeSantis is a disaster. I know too many of them. Fortunately we have them outnumbered.
Agreed. Rubio is imperfect but he’ll win. He’s more good than bad despite his pathetic sellout on amnesty years ago. He’s actually excellent on some issues. Freedom vs communism for one.

True. But, I’m shocked how many of my kid’s twentysomething friends think DeSantis is great and the vast majority of them are not typical Republican voters.
The COVID lockdowns and the draconian efforts to get young adults and children to bend the knee to the vaccine overlords has created something of a classical liberal awakening in Millenials and Zoomers in Florida (and maybe in other states too, IDK). The natural distrust of government by young people - which has largely been forgotten the last couple decades - seems to be coming back in vogue in these age cohorts...and that’s a good thing for liberty-minded people.
If you look through my kids (particularly my daughters’) Instagram feeds, they’re full of their friends sharing ‘Jail Fauci’ and ‘vaccine Marxists’ memes. It’s really quite something.
