Senate Dems Threaten to Block World Cup Funds Unless Women’s Soccer Team Gets Equal Pay

A group of Senate Democrats is working to advance a measure that would block funding for the 2026 World Cup if the men’s and women’s teams aren’t compensated equally.

The Give Our Athletes Level Salaries (GOALS) Act mandates that “the use of funds for the 2026 World Cup unless the United States Soccer Federation provides equitable pay to the members of the United States Women’s National Team and the United States Men’s National Team.”
