When you visit Seattle’s new waterfront, you are going to be reminded that you’re on stolen land. One of the things that inspired a recent story by Fox News’ Dan Springer about the city’s waterfront was a piece by Elizabeth Economou for American Thinker, titled “Only the woke need apply,” in which she describes her experience applying for a job.
Economou told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show she applied for a public relations job with the organization that’s running things down the waterfront: Friends of Waterfront Seattle. She says she received a formal invite from a recruiter inviting her to apply to an open position.
“So I clicked onto the link and I was really struck by how brazenly ideological the job description was,” she said. “And upon reading it, I sent her an email, I said, ‘Could you please provide examples of embedded systemic racism?'”
Part of the job description reads: “Friends of Waterfront Seattle acknowledges that historical and existing systemic racism is embedded in our city.”
“I also wanted [the recruiter] to know that I am first generation Greek American, and I’ve lived in Seattle on and off for decades and I have not seen this play out,” Economou said. “So my parents are immigrants, without college degrees. They came here legally, albeit independently.”

I would like to know if this employer has been challenged on her Alt-Left hiring practices.

We were just discussing where to take our next family vacation and Seattle was mentioned - and quickly discarded.

MyNorthwest had the opportunity to become a major conservative voice in the Pacific Northwest (lord knows we need one!). But they instead chose a breezy supermarket tabloid format instead.

Yes. I was thinking of Philadelphia. San Francisco’s (where I have immediate family) problem is mostly homeless (direct result of its lefty policies) - homeless rule over the city and have absolute free reign to shoot up, poop on the streets in full view of the public, harass people for money, hang out in front of businesses, destroying them, etc. I stay outside the city now and ask my family to visit me there.
I have a flight to Philly next month, I’m traveling upstate and will rent a car - the airline changed the time so I’d have to land at midnight - I canceled immediately.
I am NOT flying into Philly at midnight.
I am familiar with Philadelphia and would love to spend more time there visiting historic sites, etc.
But I won’t. Far too dangerous. I go and get my car and get TH out of there as fast as I can get on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

If its at all connected to government - then YES, ideological conformity is required. We pay for it with our taxes, but increasingly by simply piling on printed money/debt.
The twit who lives next to me is a manager in a state-run welfare office. When George Floyd died, she held a zoom team-meeting every day for a week to “discuss” the importance of BLM and allow staff to “express their grief”

I lived in SF in the late 80’s. The leftists were starting their destruction then, but it was still a great place.
Not any more, I won’t go back to the city. Would still take a trip and go down the coast, or north into Napa and Sonoma.
But would avoid SF at all costs.
