"Nearly got killed" seems to be Huff Post's editorializing. Probably Nancy told her Praetorian Guard not to shoot any Republican politicians, at least as long as they were not wearing MAGA caps.
Pence has no chance of being the 2024 nominee, and many of the politicians mentioned at the end of the story don't either--Haley, Christie, Rubio and others.
At this point Trump is the best bet for 2024. If he chooses not to run, or is taken out by the Deep State, then DeSantis and Pompeo seem the most promising. The also-rans from 2016 ought to read the handwriting on the wall and just stay home.

I was commenting on the article, as quoted by the original poster:
"Former Vice President Mike Pence acknowledged Thursday for the first time his break from his ex-boss over the Jan. 6 insurrection, but he still did not blame Donald Trump for inciting the violent attack that nearly got him killed."
Note also the word "If" at the beginning of my comment.
Wouldn't you agree that what I said is true? Regardless of whether or not the article was fake news or not, if Pence did in fact think that he "nearly got killed" then he has lost his senses. I never said anything about what Pence actually thinks or thought. Who knows that but him?
