MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Crews on Thursday removed the concrete barriers that blocked traffic at a Minneapolis intersection where a memorial to George Floyd was assembled after his death last year, but community activists quickly put up makeshift barriers and resumed chanting the name of the Black man whose killing galvanized the racial justice movement.
Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the removal of the memorial was an attack on Floyd’s legacy.
“This space is a space that has now become a national memorial, a national memorial for victims of police violence all over this world,” Hussein said during a news conference.
“We will not give up this space,” he said. “We will save it for George Floyd.”
Violent crime at the intersection and the blocks immediately surrounding it rose dramatically in 2020, though crime also increased citywide. There were 19 nonfatal and fatal shootings in the area in 2020, including 14 from May 1 through Aug. 31. That’s compared with three shootings in all of 2019 and none during the summer months.

Was there any gunfire involved? Like during the 9m28s or whatever of “silence” (interrupted by a drive-by shooting) on the 1-year anniversary?
One thing I know for sure is that before I depart this vale of tears, I will have never (voluntarily) set foot in a place called George Floyd Square.

Well, if I’m ever in Minnesota, I might borrow someone’ dog to take him for a walk through George Floyd square.

It sickens me that the Lame Stream Media just let’s Arradondo, Frey, and the City Clownsel get away with the absolute LIE that they had no part in today’s events.
The SWAT team and Rapid response units don’t gear up on a random day just because they felt like it.

What a rotten role-model for all young Negro men. Floyd was responsible for his own drugged death.
Bottom line is that MLK would be sickened of all of this. Hell,maybe Malcom X more so.

There was cell-phone video from the recent shooting that showed just how trashed the whole place is. The Propaganda Media buried it but some of it made it through.
No more worshipping at the altar of St. Floyd I guess.
When we split up the country, I want to be sure Minneapolis is in the part where I am not.
