EU plans digital ID wallet for bloc’s post-pandemic life
FROM THE AP: The European Digital Identity Wallet proposed by the EU’s executive commission is a smartphone app that would let users store electronic forms of identification and other official documents, such as driver’s licenses, prescriptions and school diplomas.
The bloc’s 450 million residents would be able to use the wallet to access public or private services both online and offline while maintaining control of their personal data. Officials envision the wallet allowing a customer renting a car at an airport, for example, to complete the necessary ID checks and documents digitally and thereby skip the usual wait at an agency counter. Nightclub-goers could show the app to security guards at the door to prove their ages.

This raises red flags for me but I’ve heard that most European states already have their own digital IDs and this act just unifies them all.
The fact of the matter is that with our “real ID” drivers licenses (voted in by GOPe) we already have this in everything but being able to store our IDs on our iPhones.

It was inevitable - and I’m not surprised it’s happening in Europe before here. They lost individual liberty to the ‘collective good’ a long time ago. It won’t take long before this is a problem for us too though. The left will be calling for it and you’ll also have to contend with this if you travel to Europe.
It’ll be all nicely presented as such a fantastic ‘solution’ to so many things, “only an idiot would oppose it”. In reality it is just copying the CCP - the beginnings of a “WeChat” app like they have. Then comes the ‘social credit score’ and the grip of control over your freedoms.

Yeah. Who buys that? Maybe you control your personal data for the first millisecond after you disclose it, but after that, tyrants won’t be able to stop themselves from abusing it at every chance they get.
Just look at the green sticker that Amazon is requiring its employees to wear on their badges if they are vaccinated for a preview.
This is EXACTLY how China controls every detail of its citizens’ lives.
China has areas where they buy and sell strictly thru their phone. People go in stores, pick out items, and just scan their phone. No cashier or live person anywhere. The scan automatically deducts the amount from their bank accounts.
They try to say it’s much safer, no money in citizen’s pockets to be robbed by criminals. And of course, more convenient, quick, and saves businesses from having to hire staff,,etc., etc.
Just a matter of time before they set up the situation here in America. Already a mini-version in place with phone apps.
First they say you “could” use this, then they’ll say you “should” use it, finally they’ll say you “must” use it.
