This raises red flags for me but I’ve heard that most European states already have their own digital IDs and this act just unifies them all.
The fact of the matter is that with our “real ID” drivers licenses (voted in by GOPe) we already have this in everything but being able to store our IDs on our iPhones.
Apples and oranges. My classic, non-real-ID drivers license in VIrginia has the same identifying capability as real ID. It's a "your papers please" item whether it's an old drivers license, a new real iD license, or any other identifying document.
