I was worried it was an aspirin factory.
They would have called an air strike
Yup. I was ROTC, and there was a friendly rivalry. The vast majority I served with were excellent officers.
I smell a coverup... We may have done something on purpose and this story was meant to quash the leaks.
Troops in Bulgaria, looks like another potential place to move to when I am done in Western Europe.
Hi.
That was aided by participating in Reforger 77, augmenting a Chaparral/Vulcan platoon attached to the Big Red 1.
I was in the 207 MP company at that Reforger. Methinks hell had frozen over from Riley to Frankfurt.
Did you ever meet a Sgt or SSG Curtis or Larry James? Great friends I served with. They were Hawk missile out of 80 HHQ? Grafenwher? Poop, I’m having a senior moment or I’d give more info.
Thanks for bringing up the memories.

The employees probably thought it was just a change of ownership (that’s the way hostile take-overs are done in eastern europe - they don’t waste time buying up the company shares).
Remember when Clinton dropped bombs on the Chinese Embassy during the Serb, Croatia thing, claiming the pilots has old outdated maps as the excuse?
They were trained by the FBI, no doubt.
Woke troops being trained to take out everyday Americans.
Sounds like a Battery Commander I had. During a Battery level ARTEP, he incorrectly coded coordinates for a mission for a Towed Vulcan platoon. The PL, a 2nd LT, did not challenge the message.
As acting XO, I was out in the field doing my real job as Maintenance Officer. When I got back to the CP, my First Sergeant was sitting on a tree stump, head in his hands. "Top, what the hell is going on?" He said, it's over Sir.
During our evening meeting, the BC had obviously checked out mentally. The entire situation pissed me off royally, and I spent the next 15 minutes berating the Platoon Leaders over their failure to lead. I gave them exact instructions as to how their platoons would perform the next (and final) day, down to the individual squad member.
I knew the roles, as I had taken 3 of the 4 platoons through their ARTEPs, I knew what the evaluators would focus on.
As I left the CP, I bumped into the Chief Evaluator. I thought, oh crap, the gig is up. Instead, the Major smiled at me and said, "that was beautiful, LT". We barely passed. For my efforts, I was awarded the worst efficiency report of my career.
I would make it to Captain on time, but I saw no future for me in the long term. I was going to get out after I left Germany, but I bumped into my last battalion commander, who I had a great relationship with. I worked for him another two years, followed that with a Battery Command, and then I resigned my commission.
No complaints whatsoever, the Army was very good to me.
Didn’t this happen in Band of Brothers with Captain Sobel?
Looking at the video, it does look like guns were drawn. I would expect that when soldiers are taking over a building. But I would also expect a training exercise to leave civilian occupied buildings alone when they haven’t made prior arrangements for this.
Oh ya, I remember that one. I was around 17 or so, and even then knew that was a load of bs lol.
That battalion made my job easier. When I had a malcontent soldier, I gave him two choices:
1. Clean up your act, and continue enjoying omelets made to order in the Hahn AB dining facility.
2. Continue on your present path, and I'll ship you down to 2/62 in Mannheim, where you'll spend 8 months out of the year in the red mud in Grafenwoehr. We were all short on personnel, so there was no problem in getting them transferred.
LOL, there was always one or two a year that thought I was BSing them.
The only important question to ask about all of this is: Was the squadron appropriately diverse?
“where you’ll spend 8 months out of the year in the red mud in Grafenwoehr. “
LOL.
True story.

Did he cut the farmers fence too?
I’ve read estimates that up to 68% of homeless vets are Second Lieutenants trying to complete their land navigation courses.
No accident!
Simply our communist masters issuing a veiled threat to a nation that holds to beliefs not in line with the American communist line...
The group was assigned the task of clearing and securing multiple structures on the US airbase in Cheshnigirovo when they inadvertently strayed from the designated area and onto private property
