Students and other people walking around the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C., signed a fake petition ahead of Memorial Day to ban the holiday honoring fallen military service members.
The petition, authored by Campus Reform, a conservative news site and higher-education watchdog, calls for support to ban Memorial Day in the U.S. for glorifying "American Imperialism." Campus Reform reporter Addison Smith interviewed those who signed the petition in a video published on the outlet's website.
Fox Nation contributor and retired Marine bomb technician Joey Jones told "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Saturday that one of the young men in the video appeared to be about the same age as he was when he fought in his first war.

I’m waiting for the anti-history wokesters to demand the termination of Memorial Day, which was originally called “Decoration Day” to decorate graves of the soldiers killed in the Civil War, from what I remember hearing as a child and that it was then adopted by the Northern states. The wokesters will say that Memorial Day is a celebration for the preservation of slavery, since it began with widows and mothers of Confederate soldiers decorating their husband’s and/or son’s graves. But it looks like, diving deeper into history that it began by freed slaves in Charleston, SC who exhumed Union soldiers, black and white, from mass graves and gave them individual burials on the grounds of the Charleston race track that had been turned into a hospital and had a wartime cemetery created on its grounds.
The official story on the 1st Memorial/Decoration Day is: On May 5, 1868, General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans, called for a nationwide day of remembrance later that month. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed. When Charleston fell and Confederate troops evacuated the badly damaged city, those freed from enslavement remained. One of the first things those emancipated men and women did was to give the fallen Union prisoners a proper burial. They exhumed the mass grave and reinterred the bodies in a new cemetery with a tall whitewashed fence inscribed with the words: “Martyrs of the Race Course.”
And then on May 1, 1865, something even more extraordinary happened. According to two reports that Blight found in The New York Tribune and The Charleston Courier, a crowd of 10,000 people, mostly freed slaves with some white missionaries, staged a parade around the race track. Three thousand Black schoolchildren carried bouquets of flowers and sang “John Brown’s Body.” Members of the famed 54th Massachusetts and other Black Union regiments were in attendance and performed double-time marches. Black ministers recited verses from the Bible.

Fortunately, I know a lot of younger folks whose dads are not rich.

I believe that we should try to understand the thinking of these students.
Memorial day originated in the 1860’s in those states that supported the invasion and subjugation of the Confederacy in the War Between the States, which resulted in the forced liquidation of the enormous assets of the defeated people in African slaves. These students are bemoaning this outcome.
And if a foreign power invades, kills the best of a generation, pillages, subjugates, and destroys a long established culture isn’t imperialism, what is?
In all fairness, when somebody does a prank like this, they should keep the names and eventually put them in a database that will be archived. Then maybe someday:
“So, you’re running for congress on the Democrat ticket? Do you still believe that Memorial Day should be abolished, that the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery should be rescinded, and the other petitions you signed when in college?”
They were not whining Blacks of 2020 who have ZERO knowledge of the civil war and think Whites owe them more than their LIVES.

So white privilege is the “right to work hard” at a regular job or two in order to raise a family and give them a better life.
And WWI and WWII were an expression of “imperialism” by fighting and dying or having severe disabilities for life, when Germans and Japanese attacked our country and also murdered tens of millions of civilians around the world.
More shocking to me as a boy was reading a few years after WWII (I was born in 1946) that instead of using the sole possession of the atomic bomb and the power to enslave our old enemies who had lost infrastructure and lives fighting the war on their home ground, the USA did NOT colonize them or crush them, and instead send millions of dollars a year in CARE Packages and other food and medicine pllus clothing and money to rebuild. The ones who tried to kill us all were now being helped to rebuild. I found that shocking as a young boy. Stalin for example, messed up the historical authentication of the remains of Hitler in the bunker by saying “Destroy Berlin, now, today. Nothing remaining.”
So he took a Women’s Studies class. When I took German in College, the classroom was used for a Women’s Studies group just before us. They were slobs, they smoked in class, (this was early 80s) and left butts and ashes behind. The German teacher even remarked about it, saying he had nothing against Women’s Studies, but why do they have to be such slobs.
