The suspect accused of snatching a sleeping Dallas boy before allegedly killing him tried to kidnap another child just months earlier — but the girl’s grandfather decided not to press charges at the time, authorities say.
Alleged psycho teen Darriynn Brown — who is suspected of kidnapping and murdering 4-year-old Cash Gernon earlier this month — had barged into the home of the girl’s granddad in February and was rummaging around when the older man chased him out with a kitchen knife, according to officials.
Brown, 18, then returned to the home, kicking in the garage door and punching the grandpa in the head — before grabbing the homeowner’s 2-year-old granddaughter as she slept, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by KTVT.
The terrified tot began crying, and the grandfather was able to wrestle her away from her would-be abductor, who then ran off again, authorities said.
The girl’s grandfather did not want to press charges at the time and saw Brown weeks later at a Walmart — where the teen apologized for what happened, the station reported.

When good people do stupid liberal things... The Grandfather let this criminal/psycho loose to act out his fantasies. It would have been better for the criminal to have gone into the system and perhaps have gotten diagnosed & medicated.

And the same perp walked into the same house and stood over the same bed and stalked the OTHER twin later in the morning after he’d already made off with his (dead) brother.
That should be an attempted murder charge on top of the murder charge. At least this perp really DID multiple crimes that day unlike the officer who was convicted of multiple murders of a single person.

Murderer: “I broke into your home, ransacked the place, smashed you in the head, and tried to drag away your 2 year old granddaughter, and would have, and killed her too, if you hadn’t wrestled her away from me. I’m, er, ...so sorry?”
Grandpa: “Oh, that’s ok. Pressing charges over a violent crime spree with attempted child kidnapping is so white supremacist.”

Maybe Grandpa was terrified that the state would allow the perp to run loose and come back for Grandpa and/or his grandchild if the man had pressed charges.
Reportedly there is video of the murder out in the street from someone’s security camera (doorbell?).
But when stories get sensationalized who knows. There is the security camera in the room so that can get misinterpreted as a story goes around the world

Yes, a neighbor of Cash looked back at his ring video and I *think* it was a date 10 days prior he saw Brown looking inside his gate where his young son and daughter play basketball. (just my recall of the story)
There are also videos of him creepin’ at night and looking in vehicles, reported but the police did zero. Petty crimes are pretty much ignored nowadays.
Unless there is some sort of date stamped real evidence to back up Grandpa’s claim, this story has a very strong aroma of bovine excrement.
No, it sounds pretty real to me. I assume Grampa knew the guy, at least by sight, and probably knows his family, too. That said, unless he was the type wracked by “white guilt,” I don’t know why he didn’t report it at the time. At least he came forward now.
