An Idaho police officer who became an internet sensation after mocking LeBron James for a tweet targeting an Ohio cop has been fired.
The announcement comes via a statement posted by the mayor of Bellevue to Facebook on Thursday.
“During the week of May 20th, while on shift Deputy Marshal [Nate] Silvester violated several clearly established City of Bellevue and State of Idaho Policing policies,” Mayor Ned Burns wrote. “After his previous policy violations Deputy Marshal Silvester was placed on probation and was on, what is called, a ‘last chance agreement’ with his superior officers.”

Cancel culture will not tolerate dissent from the the dictates of the communist leadership.
Get a. good lawyer.
He should not have done it while on duty and in uniform! Why give your enemies a loaded gun.
Their loss!
Come to Florida!
Kristi Noem has said to all cops, come on down.
He’ll be fine. A red state will snap him up in a jiffy.
i wonder what his “previous violations” were.
Idaho is a red state.
Probably made a couple years wages on the internet.
He should not have done it while on duty and in uniform!
If I’m gonna do something like that, it darned well will not be on my company computer or in my company time.
Of course, I don’t really care. I was going to retire late last year, but thanks to WFH, working is way too easy and cheap, so if they want to fire me for something, I can deal with that.:)
It doesn’t sound too red to me.
Maybe it’s a purple state, because of all the lefties their destroyed states behind.
Still, another red state will undoubtedly hire him if he applies.
The mayor of Bellevue sounds like one of the cancel culture crowd.
States need residency requirements for voting. (I don’t care what the SC has said, the Constitution clearly expects requirements to vote.)
Liberalism is a disease which spreads, and Californika will overrun Idaho.
(Socialist India isn’t helping, either)
a lawsuit may be in order...
ch-ching...
I could see that coming from a mile away.
i wonder what his “previous violations” were.
Doing his job and arresting perps who happened to be protected class.
The guy should get a medal. He reminds me of real life Adrian Kronauer who was played by Robin Williams in Good Morning Viet Nam. Purely irreverent and funny as hell. Hopefully there is a career for him in comedy. (Unless comedy is canceled).
He raised more than $500k, actually.
He can almost retire on that.
Comedy was one of the first things cancelled, just ask Jerry Seinfeld when he said he wouldn’t be performing at any more colleges because of the cancel culture audiences harming his performances.
Unless he enjoy the protection of an employment agreement, either individually negotiated or collectively bargained, there is extremely low chance that would bear any fruit. With the exception of two states (one is CA and I think the other might be VA, but I am not certain), there is no protection for workers who have had adverse employment outcomes based on nothing but their political speech.
This is probably one of the least understood aspects of employment rights in the US. Yes, you can be fired for your political beliefs.
You cannot be fired for your religious beliefs, sexual or ‘gender’ identity (now, thanks to Gorsuch), your gender, your national origin or race or (in many cases) your disability, your pregnancy.
