Gov. Ron DeSantis: ‘Overwhelming’ Number of People Moving to Florida Registering As Republican
Breitbart ^ | 27 May 2021 | AMY FURR

Posted on 05/27/2021 11:47:12 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Many people moving to Florida are registering as Republicans because lockdowns in blue states caused them to reevaluate being a Democrat, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Wednesday.

The lockdowns turned them into Republicans because they say ‘I cannot fathom,’ people say, ‘I was a Democrat because of education, and I’m in California and they’re locking my kids out of school. I come to Florida, they’re in school, people are free, people are happy.’ So I think this whole process has caused some people to reevaluate some of their prior commitments. And if you have a political party that puts the interests of teachers unions over the interests of kids being able to just access an education at all, that tells you all you need to know about the modern Democrat party.

In April, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd warned intending Florida residents not to “vote the stupid way you did up north” while standing beside the governor during a press conference, Breitbart News reported:

“We’re a special place, and there are millions and millions of people who like to come here. And quite frankly, we like to have them here. So we only want to share one thing as you move in hundreds a day: Welcome to Florida. But don’t register to vote and vote the stupid way you did up north, you’ll get what they got,” the sheriff added, prompting applause from the group of law enforcement officers, lawmakers and state officials gathered.

Hmmm, dunno, what with big lizards walking round and bugs the size of hummingbirds? Then there’s several types of ‘nope, nope, nope and nope’

I love the idea of Red states vs. Blue states, the Left hates it. No way a state like New York with 10 times the do nothing state workers and 50 times the unfunded benefits and added to that the loss of taxpayers combined with high taxes and high regulations ...no way NY can compete long term.

It would be nice if even ONE New England state could be Red. NY, MA, NJ, CT,RI are goners. Maine and VT are Blueish, only NH & PA had a chance.

“no way NY can compete long term.”

They can be sustained by Biden “Infrastructure Grants”.

It’s certainly possible that *some* of those fleeing blue states are conservatives. I happen to know a handful of Republican ex-San Franciscans who have decamped for Texas.

At the same time, an uber-liberal I know moved from S.F. to Arizona. Will she turn into Barry Goldwater down there? Not a snowball’s chance in Scottsdale.

I doubt that the move itself is going to change many people politically. The libs will keep voting for Dems. The consevatives will keep voting GOP.

I recall someone else here telling me that Ted Cruz had the migrant Republican vote to thank a great deal for why he held onto his seat and defeated Beto. I wonder if Beto was able to generate that good deal more enthusiasm from Democrats who were born and bred Texans, as were their parents and grandparents, than the native Texan Republican vote.

if I were DeSantis, I would be leery of all these new ‘Republicans’.
I would be very worried of Californicators coming in, registering as Republicans in ored to vote against DeSantis in the primary. Then vote Democrat in the general, as usual.

I am fan of DeSantis but he is sunshine pumping here. Jax went for the Dem POTUS candidate for the first time since Carter. West Jax rapidly is taking on the Hispanic flavor of the I-4 beltway. That is not an electoral path to victory for the GOP in Florida.
