Seventy percent of Pennsylvanians 18 and older have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine — a “significant milestone,” Gov. Tom Wolf said.
It means if all of them follow through and get their second doses, 70% of Pennsylvania adults will be fully vaccinated — Wolf’s threshold for removing the mandate that unvaccinated people wear face masks while away from their homes. Pennsylvania is the tenth state to reach 70% of residents having a first dose, the Wolf administration said.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Pennsylvanians have come together to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy and safe. This selflessness is now reflected in vaccination rates throughout the commonwealth. The vaccines are our best defense against this deadly virus,” Wolf said in a news release. “The light is shining bright at the end of this tunnel, but we must continue to stay the course. I encourage everyone to show up for their second vaccine appointment and take pride in doing your part to help protect individuals who are unable to get vaccinated.”
Scientists say at least 70% of the population must be vaccinated in order to eliminate COVID-19 as a serious health threat.
Still, it should be noted that level, which is based on total population, is higher than Wolf’s mask mandate threshold, which which is based on the percentage vaccinated among people 18 and older.
As of Wednesday, 52.7% of Pennsylvanians 18 and older are fully vaccinated.
Fifty-seven percent of all Pennsylvanians have received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine and 42% are fully vaccinated, according to The New York Times vaccine tracker.
Nationally, 50% of people have had at least one shot and 40% are fully vaccinated.

Wolf is a complete douchebag throughout this scamdemic and totally behind stop and steal PA edition. As for the masks, there will be plenty who will not remove them. They are conditioned and Karenized.

So says that piece of shit rag, PennLive. Are you sure it's not 69% or perhaps 71%. Does it matter if businesses are fully open on the Friday before Memorial Day or three days later after Memorial Day?
No real scientist would even to begin to suggest that a mask does anything positive. In fact, there is significant evidence that masks have negative health consequences. A mask is as effective at stopping the CCP virus as a chain link fence is at stopping misquotes. (Thank Lightman for that metaphor)
