AP FACT CHECK: House GOP falsely blames Biden for gas prices

WASHINGTON - Heading into the Memorial Day travel weekend, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy and other members of his party are falsely blaming President Joe Biden for higher gasoline and lumber costs.

MCCARTHY: “Despite gas prices being at historic lows this time last year, the average price for a gallon of gas is currently an astounding $3.10. That’s the highest it’s been since 2014, the last time Joe Biden was in the White House.” — blog post on Monday.

THE FACTS: Biden’s policies aren’t behind the price increases. Gas prices are up because of a rapid and unexpected bounce-back in demand, and because of lingering problems from the forced shutdown early this month of the Colonial Pipeline, which provides 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast.

McCarthy’s comparison to a year ago is also misleading. Gasoline prices didn’t fall at the time because of the Trump administration, as Trump often claims; they plunged because of the coronavirus forcing people to abandon their offices, schools, business trips and vacations.

Prices have also increased because the economy has reopened much more quickly than most analysts expected. Stimulus payments to American households, including $1,400 checks that were distributed in March, have helped Americans ramp up spending.

In short, to sum it up for the next 3+ years, nothing is BidenIdiot’s fault, nothing. We all understand this? Good, let’s move along then. /s

simple fact is that most people on both sides lack the ability to reason things out for themselves. There are some on the right that can. There are an infinitesimal number on the left that can get past their feelings to do so. Otherwise, people just trust the TV and the internet to think for them.

Demand plummeted during the lockdowns and prices crashed, and then went back up to respond to the “new normal”, even though demand remained low. Is demand higher now than before the pandemic, when gas was cheap? Are there still people working from home? I am. And so are thousands that used to work in downtown Louisville. Howa bout NYC?

This article is raw bullchit.

What lying sacks of crap! Gas prices had fallen well before WuFlu because Trump made the US was energy independent. And the Trump economy of the time was booming way more than it is now.

What filthy propagandists.

AP is full of it.

The treasoncrats never get blamed, but if there’s a Republican in office it’s always: “They’re enriching their big oil buddies at Halliburton and Exxon!!!!”

Limitations on drilling

Close the pipelines

Middle East, including Iran & Straight of Hormuz turmoil

Our inflated worthless currency on the world market

Statement before the election that he would raise gas prices to promote electric vehicles

Gas prices are up because of the war with Eurasia. Or is it EastAsia? Whatever - at least we’re making progress on the Malabar front.

Supply/demand elements are responsible for gas prices. Those prices are the LEAST of the problems the Cadaver-in-Chief is causing, along with ripple effects we are not yet seeing as of today. Those are for later, and will be severely felt nationwide. And they will all be the fault of the present regime.

And RINOs are responsible for the present regime, period.

Not a rhetorical question: Aren't gases prices higher today than they were before the pandemic when the economy had produced the lowest unemployment.....ever recorded?

Idiots. They were sharing offices with a terrorist organization but didn’t know it, why would we think they have a handle on the gas price issue?!
