Green propaganda, based on unfounded fears of climate doomsday, is beginning to threaten Africa's ambition for developing a reliable and affordable energy sector. Christians concerned about the world's poor should take notice.
Almost all African countries signed the Paris climate agreement. Now, in addition to the setbacks incurred due to climate pledges at Paris, the continent is facing a fresh wave of anti–fossil fuel policies and demands from international institutions.
For the people of Africa, this could be lethal. Abundant, affordable, reliable energy is indispensable to whole societies' rising and staying out of poverty, and fossil fuels are the most affordable, feasible source for that energy.
Here's a look at the funding crunch and the avenues still available for Africa to boost its energy sector.
Africa's Way Out of Poverty: Fossil Fuel–Powered Economy
One fifth of the world's population lives in Africa, but the continent accounts for less than one twenty-fifth of global electricity use. Around 600 million in Africa have no electricity.
This lack of energy access means that the countries in Africa not only lack the means for economic progress, but also are at a disadvantage in various aspects of everyday life. For example, 60 percent of health center facilities in 27 Sub-Saharan countries lack reliable electricity, making it difficult to respond to health emergencies. Simple light for students to read by to do homework at night — important to their developing skills for the marketplace — is a luxury few enjoy.

Not to fear ...China will pick up the slack...and petroleum...while we shop for a good horse and buggy and efficient solar lamp...
Honestly, if we’re headed for the stone ages here, might as well crater the economy now and start the hardships. Far too many are sitting on their hands with the expectation everything will work out on its own. A reboot by God would be preferable to the path we have allowed to happen.
I was hoping for before 2022 but the dems aren't stupid, just evil. But what might happen in 2022 is the pubs get back a little control and, being stupid, will agree to crater the economy.
Just give them some windmills and solar panels. It’ll be just fine.
Liberals: "Yes, and...?"
My first question is why would I care about Africa?
If you think about it and use the 1619 ideology then Africa should be far superior to any westernized nation.
How’s that working out?
When our energy resources use are prohibited from being used by political edict, which curiously benefits Russian energy, Pipe line shut downs affecting our resources supplys . which result in thousands losing jobs and reliance on costly imports from foreign sources. Denying our energy resources which if fully developed would turn out to be a major source of income when exported.
Disasterous results should be expected when such edicts are issued . Those who order and support such decisions should be impeached beccause of the serious damage being done to the economy.
It is intentionally designed to destroy the American economy, with the aim of reducing our world influence. This is all straight out of UN Agenda 21, which is how to use climate alarmism to destroy US energy consumption, to damage the economy, to limit our influence.
This is the plan to get rid of America so the New World Order can install global governance.
I sound crazy, but this is all real and it is all coming and coming fast. The current US fascist government is installing all this right now.
Africa gets plenty of sunlight, so solar power is always an option.
What all of Africa needs now and for centuries to come, is cheap and plentiful energy. “Fossil fuels” (and that is a misnomer) provide a bridge until such time as a much safer form of nuclear power is made available. The older form, uranium-fueled light water reactors, has a number of rather severe limitations, one of which is that the “spent” fuel which cannot any longer produce sufficient energy to supply the reactions necessary to maintain the nuclear chain reaction, and are contaminated with plutonium, a deadly and long-lived isotope which can be used to make dirty nuclear bombs.
But technology has gone far to update and replace the uranium-fueled plants, using a thorium-fueled molten salt reactor that is inherently much safer, and also cheaper to set up and run. The fuel, thorium, is both more plentiful and much safer to handle than uranium, and it is not capable of runaway “China syndrome” overheating and meltdown. And one of the more important advantages, it NEEDS a small amount of a “spent” uranium fuel rod to initiate and sustain a nuclear reaction in the molten salt solution, so eventually the stockpiles of “spent” uranium fuel rods will be used up. There is a small amount of atomic “ash” left over when thorium reactors are recharged, but its volume is both much smaller, and composed of relatively short-lived atomic isotopes, in contrast to the uranium fuel rods.
These thorium-fueled molten salt reactors generate an enormous amount of heat, which could be used not only for electric power generation, but the heat could be used to drive a number of other processes, including the distillation of brackish water to make fresh potable water, and to power any number of industrial level formulation applications, like the thermal depolymerization of organic wastes, to make a very good grade of kerogen, the feedstock from which “fossil fuels” are fractionated.
A new age is dawning upon the world, if only some long-standing superstitions and taboos can be put aside.
My Amish neighbors wonder what the problem is.
