Joe Biden will not include student loan forgiveness in his upcoming Budget, after pledging to cancel $10,000 from loans on the campaign trail.

Biden, who was seen arriving back at the White House on Sunday from a weekend at Camp David, is due to announce his latest budget at the end of next week, and claims he has grown suspicious of wiping out the loans.

The shift in policy is a major blow for the more than 42 million Americans who have student loans.

Could be that on further review, he does not have the authority to do this by executive action. More than 85% of outstanding student loan debt is federally guaranteed, meaning that when you forgive $1 you transfer $1 to the taxpayers (or increase deficit spending in the short run, so the taxpayers end up paying more than a dollar in the long run.) If he really made the remark with the example of Penn in it - I guess it just goes to show that in his degenerative senility he gets to a point where his short term recall of talking points is so bad he forgets them and only has some common sense to rely on. That will go soon as the disease progresses. But his comment involving Penn was possibly the only thing he has uttered as President that I might agree with.

Wasn't it $50,000 worth of loan forgiveness back in January? I dimly recall somewhat larger numbers than just $10,000.

Maybe they should have reduced expenses by going to a community college first, a cheaper college, lived at home, etc., like the taxpayers did whom you now want to pay your debt.

Yellen won’t be getting a 21% floor on corporate taxes, and currently I think they are looking at 12.5-15%, if anything happens at all on that front. Thats a huge blow, because now he runs into the same old problem of corporations fleeing over taxes, so the big ticket items are going to be gone.

Yeah paying off a student loan at $5 month, it’s nice not having US-based income. It was a $1500 loan I got in 1984 while in the Army for a correspondence school for something I never was allowed to finish (the Battery NCO didn’t like education) Nothing on my credit report, nothing for 37!years. Now it’s over $38000. So they will get it back at $5/month. Seems the judgements were all in Illinois (a place I never returned to after enlisting in 1983) and Minnesota.

Ah, so most of these loans are from irresponsible people, and 66% of debt is held liberal women, who got worthless degrees. Now they expect people who did NOT get a college degree to pay that off? Could not come up with a more privelaged ripoff of society if one tried.

Fooled a bunch of ill educated nitwits to get their vote. Not likely Potemkin Joe had the authority to do what he promised and the rats know they would get hammered in midterms if they legislatively forgave loans.
