The University of Notre Dame is scheduled to hold its 176th commencement ceremony Sunday, and conspicuously absent will be President Biden.
Mr. Biden will not deliver the address to the Notre Dame 2021 graduating class, breaking with recent tradition for newly installed administrations, as the nation’s second Catholic president continues to draw fire for pursuing a staunchly pro-choice policy agenda.
The White House told the Catholic News Agency that the president was invited but had a scheduling conflict, avoiding a brewing uproar over whether the Catholic institution should celebrate Mr. Biden by awarding him an honorary degree, as is customary for commencement speakers.
More than 4,300 “members of the Notre Dame community” and others signed an open letter to the Rev. John I. Jenkins, the university president, asking him not to invite Mr. Biden over his “pro-abortion and anti-religious liberty agenda.”
“He rejects Church teachings on abortion, marriage, sex and gender and is hostile to religious liberty. He embraces the most pro-abortion and anti-religious liberty public policy program in history,” said the letter. “The case against honoring him is immeasurably stronger than it was against honoring President Obama, an action that alienated countless Catholics and brought upon Notre Dame the harsh criticism of 83 cardinals, archbishops and bishops.”
“I believe there would have been even more intense outrage if Biden was given a degree,” C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League, told The Washington Times. “The issue of nominally Catholic politicians who support abortion is, 48 years after Roe, finally reaching critical mass.”
Mr. Biden, a lifelong Catholic, was refused the sacrament of Communion in 2019 at a church in Florence, South Carolina, with the priest saying in a statement afterward that any “public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”

Biden is an Abortion Catholic, and Notre Dame is a Jesuit school. Sounds like a marriage made in (Heaven would not be the right word here), unless they are all standing by the Temple door and Jesus shows up with a scourge.
The news article is propaganda. Jao Bai-Din isn’t going to Notre Dame because he’s senile and his handlers can’t let him out in lesser-controlled situations, not because he’s pro-abortion. Notre Dame celebrates abortion.

Tim Kaine Compares Catholic Teaching on Abortion to ‘Sharia Law’

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, who identifies as Catholic, weighed in this week on Holy Communion for pro-abortion politicians, asserting that requiring Catholic legislators to oppose abortion is like imposing sharia law on the nation.
In an essay for the far-left National Catholic Reporter, Kaine suggested abortion is not a matter of the life and death of an unborn child, but merely of norms governing human sexuality.
For bishops to demand “Catholics in public life not only live according to church doctrine but additionally shape the law, even to include the threat of criminal prosecution and punishment, to enshrine church doctrine on sexuality as mandatory for all Americans is contrary to our basic liberty,” he declared.
“Abortion is the axe laid to the roots of the tree of human rights: when our culture encourages the violation of life at its youngest and most vulnerable condition, other ethical norms cannot stand for long,” San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone wrote in a recent pastoral letter.
Abortion “is not a ‘Christian’ or ‘Catholic’ issue,” the archbishop noted, because “the dignity of the human person is a value that is, or should be, affirmed by us all.”
