Texas Senate on Saturday passed legislation that would ban schools from requiring staff to discuss or teach critical race theory.
The legislation passed the state's lower chamber on May 11, but the state House will have to approve it again after changes were made in the state Senate, according to KXAN.
Critical race theory holds that racism is systemic and has been present in institutions, including the law, the economy and schooling, since the nation's founding.
"House Bill 3979 makes certain that critical race philosophies, including the 1619 founding myth, are removed from our school curriculums statewide. When parents send their children to school, they want their students to learn critical thinking without being indoctrinated with misinformation charging that America and our Constitution are rooted in racism," Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) said about the passage of the bill.
"Texans roundly reject the 'woke' philosophies that espouse that one race or sex is better than another and that someone, by virtue of their race or sex, is innately racist, oppressive or sexist," he added.
The bill requires teachers who talk about race relations and how they shaped history to look at viewpoints "from diverse and contending perspectives without giving deference to any one perspective."
However, critics, including Democrats and education advocates, say the bill is a step in the wrong direction.
“By telling teachers what and how to teach and ordering TEA to play police, HB 3979 may be one of the most disrespectful bills to teachers I've seen the #txlege dignify with debate,” Mark Wiggins, a lobbyist for The Association of Professional Educators, tweeted.
Similar bills have cropped up in legislatures around the country.

Ping!
If Democrats in Texas say this imposes upon teachers, then they are saying they have no problem with teachers anywhere teaching that African kings and tribal leaders sold a massive number of slaves into slavery, that Muslims enslaved massive numbers of blacks and whites after the 700’s and well into the 1000’s and after that when they were invading Christian Eastern and Western Europe, and that Asians, Hindus, etc, have mass enslaved others.
And they would be saying they have no problem with them teaching that Critical Race Theory is (according to Robin Diangelo and other movers and shakers in CRT) based off of Critical Theory begun by Marxists like Max Horkheimer and Herbert Marcuse, carried on by people like DiAngelo and Kendi, and adapted by people like Noel Ignatiev.

People like this should be stripped naked and driven into the wilderness.

So CRT proponents, Nikole Hannah-Jones, etc, are opposed to Biden’s 94 crime bill that Trump tried to undo?
“From requiring” is setting the bar pretty low. When do we go on offense?
Right now I’m really pissed at the Texas legislature for not sending the Constitutional Carry bill to Governor Abbott. In particular the $#1t$ in the Senate who have killed it so many times and have now back loaded it with poison pills.
That doesn’t prevent it from being snuck in as “SEL” and anti-bullying under another name.
Schools Are ‘Transforming’ Emotions to Fit a Narrative
The education system is taking advantage of students who are unequipped to handle emotions.

Finally, the big Straw Man argument coming from CRT supporters and proponents is that they just want history and facts taught.
But CRT says that America is systemically racist, if one who is white denies they are racist it’s just more proof they are racist, that whites are genetically racist, and that if you are white you are a racist.
CRT invites criticism of everything but itself as criticism of it is denounced as “fragility”. The 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones’ work was roundly criticized by numerous historians, left and right, as fiction. Critical Race Theory is the friend and ally of Woke Capitalism (the newest iteration in the merger of Big Business and Big Government) that Matt Taibbi and The Hill have shown in the YT video “Matt Taibbi Dismantles Woke Corporate Race Book “White Fragility.”
CRT doesn’t seek to examine racism, but rather is a leftist construct of false arguments that has no scientific methodology to achieve this. Instead, it relies upon anecdotal evidence to paint “whitey” with a broad brush, is bolstered with the “Kafka Trap”, and falsely labels groups as oppressed or oppressors, and says racism is an unchangable part of America while advocating for black only spaces.
CRT isn’t actually a social science, but is rather a pseudoscience masquerading as science as it laughably claims that science (math, chemistry, etc) is subjective. And the irony is that CRT proponents outright reject objectivity and logic as well.
So the students who can’t handle emotions will be taught to be more left-brained oriented?
Secondly, in the article it described a “not equal” sign a teacher used was deemed to be racist. So when will white people and/or Hispanics in Texas supply a list and push it through on symbols, words, etc, they think are racist and used by blacks against whites and/or Hispanics?
Why would you want to inflict that upon the wilderness? :P
See my comment at 13 above - I don’t hate the wilderness that much. I suggest whipping them into the sea in an area known to be infested with hungry sharks.
CRT should be banned period. I’m not liking the language if it only bans schools from “requiring” staff to discuss or teach critical race theory.
Doesn’t mean they can’t push this crap it’s just not required.
Passing the law banning CRT is nice, but what matters is enforcing it.
Trump as commander in chief gave executive orders to the military to stop teaching CRT to the troops, and the military just ignored the orders and kept going.
It’s all in Matthew Lohmeier’s outstanding book, which I just finished reading.
I have no doubt the Texas teachers unions will ignore the law, lie about what they are teaching, and continue pusing CRT, properly termed Communist Revolutionary Tactics.
Several states are banning the teaching of CRT. At the same time federal education dollars are tied to the teaching of CRT. How does this work? Will states continue to accept federal dollars?
Back when obamy’s life and times were supposed to be taught and kids were to take a test, our school ignored it. Hopefully, they’ll do the same with this.
So it is no longer mandatory to teach this racist crap, just optional.
