If they were raised in a family that did not attend or had rejected the Christian faith that their parents/grandparents believed in, I’m not surprised. Or they were exposed to the secular humanism in college that taught them that Christianity was false and they accepted that falsehood.

I am saddened by these results, but not at all surprised. The Apostle Paul expressed it like this in Titus 1:9-12 where he gives the qualifications of elders/pastors:

He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

The Left wants to replace Christian principles with the religion of “survival of the fittest”. Which is survival of the most cunning, or survival by any means, the democrat motto.

The attitudes about how to treat others and about getting even indicate a stunted moral sense. It would be interesting to see what other attitudes they have. That could go along way toward explaining why a lot of things are the way they are.

I was brought up in church, so believing is natural for me and my faith is vital for me. I don’t understand people who have no interest in God. I see evidence of Him everywhere.

I’m concerned with the research. I’ve not been a fan of George Barna religion research methodology for some time.

That said, I agree with you about family. Family agreement on teaching their faith is a huge advantage for a child in a Christian home. If both parents agree, then it’s even stronger.

With a cell phone in hand... no looking for a phone booth ... computer to the world... no news a day okd... instant gratification... and God is not visible to the blind...
BUT ....
Just like the days of Noah building a big boat.. they thought he was strange.. and went about their lives.. also blind..

And when the waters covered the earth, they begged to get on the boat.. but the doors were locked, and no one could come aboard... Noah and his family were safe.

There is a day coming when the heavens will open and God’s people are outta here.... those left will tribulate without us.

I handle gospel tracts downtown and I try to feed the Homeless and buy them close when I can. I can tell you it’s a fact, that a lot of the Millennials and younger generation laugh at you for trying to hand them a track and mock you as they walk by. I also have to admit there’s a such an increase in homosexuality in transsexualism that I never even saw in Singapore or Bangkok 40 years ago. The United States is going to be judged very soon in a very harsh manner before the Rapture happens

Who would believe a poll from a biased source? Why spread their falsehoods?

They project these lies because they're trying to convince young people of faith that they're alone in their beliefs while everyone else has "moved on".

Relatedly, keep in mind that church attendance is not an indicator of faith. People didn't leave their church, their church left them when it went down the Socialist path of Globalism, "social justice", "do what you feel", etc.

This has been a topic of interest to me for a long time. A Catholic priest Father John Bartunek wrote a book Spiritual But Not Religious: The Search For Meaning In A Material World
which I read, but then I discovered a similar title by Robert C.Fuller, Lillian Daniel, Reid B.Locklin and one by Victor Parachin on “how to be...” this. It’s a big topic for young people who think old time religion is corny.

Plus The future of God by Deepak Chopra (in which he hopes God will stop being silent and meet people part way before so many young people turn away from Him that He will not be a factor in life sometime in the future. He had a debate against an author I admire named Dr. Robert Spitzer once.

Each generation seems to move farther away from the worship and rituals of devout people, thinking these are outdated and irrelevant. They are wrong. Studies show marriage breakups, health decline, drug dependency, criminal acrivity and mental health problems sometimes leading to actual suicide are prevalent in non-religious households versus “old-fashioned” ones of believers.

Tragic.

Agree.. most churches are social gatherings..

HOLY SPIRIT ... when it was time for Jesus to go back to His Father, He said He was not leaving us alone.. the Holy Spirit would be here to help us and comfort us.

Pentecostal is not a popular word today..

It is a great time for a national revival. Pray for them. Tell them you are praying for them.

Yes, I’ve heard dozens of folks say that they are “spiritual” but not “religious.” When I asked them to explain the answer was usually along the lines of “I believe in something, just not the Christian faith and its God.

A friend and religious mentor of mine, who was a long time elder and lay preacher, said that he would asked them to define the concept of Christianity’s God and he said, I wouldn’t believe in that either. This was because their concept of God was so warped from what God is and what they though Jesus taught.
