DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa House and Senate approved a bill Wednesday nights that would ban mask mandates in schools and cities.
It comes after some school districts across the state held meetings earlier this week voting to either continue with their mask mandates or get rid of them.
Advertisement Lawmakers moved the amendment to an education bill quickly on Wednesday.
Once signed, superintendents, principals and school board members won't be able to implement mask mandates for their students or employees.
The amendment also said county and city leaders can't make stricter mask policies than the state's own policies for private businesses.
House Republicans said they're doing this in response to what they're hearing from their community members.

Gov Reynolds is expected to sign this Bill!
the simple fact that they have to have legislation is a testament to the weakness of the American mind.
And a testament to the horror millions of people experienced by what our media, local, state, and federal government did during an emerging disease pandemic.
I would add ...even big technology in their brutal attempts to ‘control’ access to information.
Cool, y’all must miss Trump. Good deal.
I don’t live in a swingset state.
How are they on mandatory vaccines ???
If you want to go to a state college in NYS, you MUST be vaccinated. Just not right. But that’s Cuomo for you.
Businesses are still requiring employees to be muzzled...
I can’t find a big biz in NYS that has come out with its muzzle policy for employees.
WTH biz isn’t raining all kinds of Cain at federal and state capitals because WuFlu liability protection hasn’t been passed is beyond me...
While I support this, it means the rest of my week will be rather chaotic.
So be it.
Oh, and a lady at work was passing around a recall petition for governor Kim today for “killing old people and children!”
