You can probe anybody, criminal or not. It doesn’t mean they did anything illegal. That is what a courtroom is for.
I respectfully disagree with you about a “criminal probe”. Prosecutors and law enforcement are not supposed to target people over political differences. They are supposed to target people based on a reasonable suspicion to look for probable cause of a crime.
This probe and others against Trump are purely partisan. Those in charge of the probes have made partisan statements against Trump. They have investigated and investigated and investigated and never produced anything, which they would have certainly leaked, that amounts to reasonable suspicion or probable cause. Despite this, they have continued their investigation with an army of people and a flurry of subpoenas.
This is wrong. Period. The Trump Organization, like most large business entities in the US, does not use Turbo Tax. They use large tax and accounting firms. This is especially true because the IRS loves to audit people like Trump, even prior to his announcing the run, because they do not toe the party line. They don’t seem to audit other people or organizations despite red flags (Clinton Foundation) because of political agreement.
These investigations of Trump are corrupt and tainted. They leak crap that later turns out to not be true. They are purely partisan. If the courts do not act to stop this persecution, and so far they have not, we truly live in a Banana Republic. Who would want to subject their family to this if there is not equal and blind justice?
2. New York State has a five-year statute of limitations for felonies involving financial crimes. So what exactly does this dingbat think the Trump Organization was doing illegally after mid-May of 2016 that's going to be subject to a criminal prosecution?

What makes you think they don't believe they have a reasonable belief a crime was committed? Nothing requires that they release details before filing charges.
The plan has been obvious since Election Day. New York State will indict Trump. After spending the next several months or more leaking. Their hope is that he will fight extradition from Florida (with DeSantis’ support) and a circus will ensue, which they hope will distract voters from real policy issues in 2022 and 2024, and possibly even persuade Pres Trump from running in 2024 or at least inflame RINO opposition to him.
The NYAG is a force that must be destroyed. There can be no co existence for one who weaponizes the law to achieve political goals

This is an outrage. In years past I would ask why “sober democrats” or media types are not speaking out against this, but there are no sober people left there.
