That struck me as really unusual. They must have traded off on a different case.
Even THEY realize how broadly weaponized this could be used.
Somebody known to be a drug user? No knock warrant to seize drugs? Sure, why not? They may use those drugs and harm themselves or somebody else. They could get behind the wheel!!! OMG!!! take their car too!
Parent shouts at a ref during kids soccer game? Other Parent “does not feel safe”? Raid the house! confiscate baseball bat, nail gun, 2*4s, all sharp and pointy things in the kitchen? Sure!
Get a search warrant! Hopefully this carries over to all areas where law enforcement and the government should get a search warrant before acting.
You would be very hard-pressed to find (and present to the Supreme Court) a more direct violation of the 4th Amendment. If they didn’t rule this way, they might as well have said that the 4th Amendment is unconstitutional.
Maybe the biased ones are beginning to see the light!
