Illustrative video released by IDF demonstrates what the Hamas underground tunnel network looks like and how it was destroyed.
The IDF released an animated video on Saturday evening providing an inside look at the Hamas "Metro" underground tunnel network which the Israeli Air Force destroyed late Thursday night in a massive assault on the Gaza Strip. On Thursday evening the IDF took Hamas by surprise, luring them into their tunnel network, known to the IDF as the "Metro", before destroying it, killing an estimated 300-400 Hamas operatives.
The “Metro” had been built in the years after the 2014 war in the Gaza Strip, also known as Operation Protective Edge. It was a network of dozens of kilometers of tunnels that crisscrossed Gaza and provided safety for Hamas operatives from Israeli aerial incursions. Besides the Metro tunnel system, the IDF has located and destroyed at least 18 terror tunnels since 2014, according to a 2019 IDF report.
I can't link directly to the video
It illustrates the widespread tunnel system complex and why seemingly innocuous sites in buildings and roads and "family farms" are targeted
Al Jezeera laments. The Jerusalem Post explains the limited war
Now if they could only slant drill and fill the broken tunnels with sewage.
with pork products
For Hamas, that would be an upgrade.
The video would have been so much better had they included thousands of fighting men all scrunched close together in the tunnels waiting for the sounds of Israeli tanks so that they could sneak out and attack them . . . and then . . . a meat locker. You know that would have been AWESOME!
Gators, electric eels and piranhas
Up to 7-8 brigades of 15 Hamas fighters remain in the tunnels - dead and wounded left until they are all dead. No funerals as that would show just how big the losses were.
or just some diesel mixed with kerosene, pumped down there and some lucky guy get to toss in the match.
Maybe hold a raffle to see who gets to toss in the match
Pig carcasses would work well.
I’d fly over there, just for that.
definitely OK with that.
Diesel and kerosene are essentially the same and do not readily burn.
I thought that is how they made jet fuel. My bad.
Then, Cobra64, feel free to put a cocktail together and I’ll happily pump into the tunnels.
That is interesting and is the only report I have seen that elucidates the IDF deception strategy to entice Hamas into the tunnels before sealing them off.
8 * 15 = 120
I would have hoped for more.
I wonder about command, officers and their staffs.
I suppose that in time, the actuality will be revealed

Technically, they are a kerosene type fuel but jet engines are special beasts.
Both kerosene and diesels are considered fuel oils. The fuel cap on my little diesel tractor even says ‘fuel oil’.
You can put a match out in either. In fact, my dad says they used to throw cigarettes into an open coffee can of gasoline and it would put the cigarette out. Liquid gasoline can’t burn but the fumes or the right mist mixture of gas and oxygen can; 14.7:1 air:gas ratio is ideal.
I guess that beats flamethrowers.
10-4....
So either straight up gas or pump some phosphorus down there.
Either way, I’m good. Whatever works and hurts the most.
“A thermobaric weapon, aerosol bomb, or vacuum bomb is a type of explosive that uses oxygen from the surrounding air to generate a high-temperature explosion. In practice, the blast wave typically produced by such a weapon is of a significantly longer duration than that produced by a conventional condensed explosive. The fuel–air explosive (FAE) is one of the best-known types of thermobaric weapon.
Most conventional explosives consist of a fuel–oxidizer premix (black powder, for example, contains 25% fuel and 75% oxidizer), whereas thermobaric weapons are almost 100% fuel, so thermobaric weapons are significantly more energetic than conventional condensed explosives of equal weight. Their reliance on atmospheric oxygen makes them unsuitable for use underwater, at high altitude, and in adverse weather. They are, however, considerably more destructive when used against field fortifications such as foxholes, tunnels, bunkers, and caves—partly due to the sustained blast wave and partly by consuming the oxygen inside.”

Nah. Do a ground penetrator device and then do an underground FAE. Kills terrorists dead. .
