News is reporting that all eight who are showing positive got the J&J shot. I haven’t seen anything around how effective J&J is at blocking asymptomatic infections. Pfizer blocks 94% of asymptomatic infections and 97% of symptomatic infections.
It’s reported that 7 of the 8 Yankees showing positive are asymptomatic: https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/13/sport/yankees-test-positive-covid/index.html
72% effective.
I'll try to be consistent: I wasn't scared of COVID pre-vaccines because most cases in younger healthy people are mild. I'm not suddenly scared of it now that most cases - all cases? - in vaccinated people are mild. My standard is not 'nobody ever gets infected'.
asking that dumb question...
if they are asymptomatic...why are they being tested? And is the test detecting Covid or the vaccine?
Example: Cats can be vaccinated against FIV, but they will later test positive for FIV because the test cannot detect the difference.
