I'll try to be consistent: I wasn't scared of COVID pre-vaccines because most cases in younger healthy people are mild. I'm not suddenly scared of it now that most cases - all cases? - in vaccinated people are mild. My standard is not 'nobody ever gets infected'.
Some FReepers are on that bandwagon, but mostly in bad faith. These are the same people who - before the vaccines - were claiming that most cases are false positives and that asymptomatic cases shouldn’t even be counted. Now that we have vaccines available, any detectable trace of SARS-CoV-2 within 3 miles of a vaccinated person is undeniable proof that the vaccines are actually Bill Gates mind control microchips that are rewriting your DNA so that magnets will stick to your arms.
There’s no reason to be scared with COVID-19. Each person needs to rationally evaluate (perhaps with the help of their personal physician) their level of risk for severe symptoms and their relative risk of even contracting it so they can take reasonable steps to protect themselves. Beyond that, everyone should understand the facts about the vaccines so they can make an informed decision about what is best for their own health and wellbeing. In the end, if somebody decides to wait on getting vaccinated or decides not to get vaccinated at all, that’s their decision and I completely respect that. The only thing I have a problem with is somebody spreading bad info (not you), because that robs people of their chance to make an informed decision.
