House Republicans voted to put Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in the number-three role in caucus leadership, after Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) was ousted from leadership for her criticism of former President Donald Trump.
Stefanik’s bid for Conference Chair was endorsed by Trump, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and GOP Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), in addition to other rank-and-file lawmakers. From the ultra-conservative wing of the party, Stefanik received criticism for a “liberal” voting record. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) launched a challenge to Stefanik, arguing that her record is not conservative enough and that there should not be an expedited “coronation” process to replace Cheney.
Stefanik won the support of the caucus with 134 votes in a secret ballot process that occurred with little delay on Friday morning.
The newly-elected House GOP Chair said that the American people are witnessing an "economic crisis, a border crisis, an energy crisis, and a national security crisis due to Far-Left radical policies," and vowed that House Republicans will push back on President Biden's agenda.

Oh Goody!
We have a new Assistant Democrat as Conference chair...../s
Of course they did... The GOP is worse than useless.
Will she be better than Cheney?
I’m learning to accept minimal improvement as Republicans don’t seem to have the stomach for strong action.
Always watch for the CNN reaction
If they’re pissed off, then the right choice was made
Show Republicans are willing to support left-liberal representatives in leadership positions. Impressive.
Yes. But the point of this exercise was not to promote Stefanik, but to punish Cheney for her anti-conservative actions.
That’s quite a voting record there. Bet it matches with AOC’s fairly closely. Even voted against Trump’s tax cuts.
So nothing changes......
Trump still hasn’t learned. Giving the scorpion a ride across the river.
I’m not sure this is a good thing....she is not as conservative as I once thought
Choosing the lesser evil is STILL an increase in evil.
Where was conservative warrior Chip Roy during impeachment and the steal? AWOL, naturally.
I guess Pres Trump did not see that comparison graphic....NOT that I am a Chip Roy fan.
Also interesting to note that Stefanik, who had full backing/support of PDJT, failed to even mention him, in her ‘thank you’ statement.
Not that she’s required to, when acknowledging her House support/duties...but, a mention of the MAGA force would have been a nice hat tip.
None of them are worth a bucket of spit. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over this.
There’s quite a bit of Elise bashing here. She represents a portion of my county in upstate NY is has doesn’t a good job in this seat. Many of her votes quoted don’t tell the whole story if anyone takes the time to analyze them
Trump supports her, she is loyal, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt until she doesn’t deserve it. She has also stated she will only serve one term, in effect a placeholder. Everyone can agree Cheney needed to be tossed out on her ars and then defeated in 2022. Elise will be a suitable person for now.
Don’t forget what this all actually signifies and why the media/Dems hate this and support Cheney. This move solidifies Trump leadership of the GOP, clearly and with no doubt and having his person replace Cheney is icing on the cake.
Good move by GOP house!!! Getting rid of Liz Cheney was the right move...100%!!! I understand that Bret Baier did a number on her last evening, telling her that POTUS, Trump got many more votes from the voters of Wyoming then Traitor, Turncoat Liz Cheney did...by a long shot. Cheney is now burnt toast and has effectively destroyed her political career, the same way Mike Pence destroyed his political career.
Word has that Trump will have two rallies in June that have yet be announced!!! I will suggest to Trump that one of those rallies be held in the State of Virginia. Because if the GOP wins the Governor slot in Virginia this coming November, the GOP can literally destroy the entire Democrat Party in the mid term elections of 2022!!! Folks Trump is making headway on many fronts....stay tuned!!!
has done a good job in this seat LOL
